I have several pairs of Altra running shoes. My feet are long but narrow, except my toes like to splay out when running/walking. Altria’s are great for the wide toe, but narrow heel area which fits like a glove for me. These shoes however were cut very short. My toes could not spread out because the big toe was pressing into the grey smooth area of the toe box. You could see the intention, very uncomfortable. My other Altria’s fit great right out of the box. I wanted to try these because they have a ‘drop’ ratio vs the zero drop, and they say they offer stability and arch support. If they came in 11.5 I would try them but a 12 is too big for me. ... show more

Way way too narrow of a toe box! Why did Altria change their concept of a large foot shaped toe box? I’m searching for older models now because I cannot stand the new narrow toe box.

    • They are Acceptable
Ordering these shoes was MY mistake! Originally, I wanted Altra - Torin, which I love. However, the moderate priced choice I wanted did not have my size - 8, and the only other Torin choice was a much more expensive one. So, I liked the description of these, and took a RISK. On this shoe, I should have ordered 7.5, a little smaller. They are ok, but my feet are having a hard time getting used to them. They are much heavier, clunkier, and less sleek than the Torin. I do like the fact that there is a lot of space around the toes, and that there is good support on the sides. If I wear a heavier sock, they fit better, but it seems to be a burden to wear them. I use these type of shoes for walking, everyday life, and working out. I am not a runner. Soon, I probably will order a Torin from the Altra site, and not Amazon next time as it has limited Torin choices. I'll donate these, and someone will love a solid, heavy tennis shoe. What happened with me is reflective of the chances one takes with a catalogue order, and I should have searched further, and not compromised. ... show more

Love these shoes! This is my third pair. These really helped alleviate my plantar fasciitis. I wear these for the recommended 500 + walking miles, then replace. They’re still in great shape after 800 miles, my feet just told it was time to replace. I would highly recommend these to any serious walker or runner. ... show more

I have been buying running shoes for over 30 years and I have never run into such a short return window. I live rurally and work in telemedicine remotely and seldom get into town so I missed there short return time. I will never buy from this company again. I wondered what would be different with the new version of this shoe and I am very happy with the it! They fixed the one thing that bothered my with the previous version: the raised stabilipods on the inside of heels. I would scrape my ankles sometimes, ouch! Now they are smooth yay! The tongue is puffier/thicker, too. But overall still the same good Altra shoe I wanted. Thumbs up! ... show more

I like the wide toe box. I bought my regular size,but I should have bought a half size larger to increase the length. My big toe butts against the top of the toe box.
