  • Comfortable.
Size: 9.5 Color: Navy/Coral
Out of all the wide toolbox shoes I have tried, working on cement thus far, it maintains comfort the best. I work on hard cement floors every day and walk a lot. If I can come home with less foot pain every day it’s a big bonus. For some reason, the cushion of this shoe in particular works very well on hardwood or cement floors ... show more

  • Best altra fit so far!
Size: 6.5 Color: Grey
These are my third pair of Altras. They fit a little bit different than my last pair, but better. These are my every day shoes. When I say every day, I mean, every day, every occasion except the beach. I work in them, I walk to the market, and I hike and trail run through some outdoor areas where I should be wearing boots. I should say I am at the point where I won’t even bother trying to buy other shoes. After my first pair of Altras were eaten by a friends dog, I found some new balances on sale and thought “these will be fine”. They were not. Fast forward 3 years and these showed have changed my life. I have a very wide toe box and a narrow heel. I also roller skated competitively for 12 years and am prone to foot cramps if I cannot move the muscles in my feet independently while walking or running the way I did when skating. Altras are the perfect mix of natural foot shape cushion without being too bulky or stiff. My one and only complaint about Altras in general is that they wear for me at the big toe area. This specific style is going to not only wear in that area, but also catches sometimes and trips me up when running or hiking over roots or rocky trails. Overall, these shoes hold up only about a year or two , but in their defense my one year of use is probably over their mileage recommendation. ... show more

  • Very nice - but didn't fit me
Size: 9 Color: Grey
I got these at the recommendation of my physical therapist, for comfort with arthritis in my big toe. They are VERY straight and don't push in on my toes at all - great toe box. They're very well made, and the soles are comfortable. But for me, I had to return them... I have a very narrow heel, and no matter how I tied these, they were too big in my heel. Wish I could have kept them, they're very nice shoes! ... show more

  • Very poor quality. Both pair are falling apart in the same places with medium-minimal use
Size: 7.5 Color: Grey
I would NOT recommend these, especially for the price. I like Altra shoes and the way they fit, however I bought 2 pairs of these and have only worn them a handful of times and they are coming apart. The fabric of the shoe along the sole, is splitting, where you can see the color of the inside insert through the outside of the shoe. Also, the thin rubber part of the sole that touches the pavement, that is attached to the foam, is pealing off near the toes. I don’t even drag my toes. This has happened on BOTH pairs, and i use them as walking shoes; I don’t even run. It’s a huge disappointment to spend so much money on a pair of good running shoes… and they don’t even stand up to walking. I’ll upload a photo later, as I am not home right now ... show more

  • My Runners Knee Vanished. Buy 1/2 size UP
I have always run in brooks but struggled with shin splints and most recently runners knee. I have been in recovery for a year and nothing was working till i finally gave switching to this shoe a try…. OH MY GOODNESS. It really improves form by a lot. It finally feels easy to not heel strike and I can land with my toes right under me and it’s comfortable. I have not had runners knee come back, i have not yet felt shin splints. Last week I ran 7 miles for the first time in a year and it finally feels like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and chase my marathon goals again!! I think this is a road running shoe but I run with it wherever the heck I want. HEADS UP: start slow with these if you haven’t used a zero drop shoe!!! I will say the first couple runs I did my feet hurt pretty bad and it felt like my tendons were cramping up for days. I would say start with just one or two miles for a couple weeks and work up. One of my friends went on a 8mi run the first day with his and his calves were cramping for days. Be careful to gradually change your form and foot alignment! Give it time and the shoe will start to feel great. ... show more

  • Material wore out in less than a year of wear
I liked the shoe in comfort & all but was very unhappy that with just average wearing them for walking & general activities...no always every day, that the material in the toe area was ripping & wearing out. I bought these shoes back in June 2023 & the material is about to rip in half in the toe area on the side of the shoe. I will not be buying these again. Just seemed like an odd place to have the material be ripping like that with really no abuse of them on my part. ... show more

  • New Alta “forever” customer
Size: 8 Color: Navy/Coral
The torin was the pair out of three Altras that I kept and I’ll tell you why. I ordered the trail shoe, superior 5. I loved the zero drop and the toe space but it was like walking on zero cushion. The provision was too chushiony. I have bad knees and flat feet and I almost felt a little unstable in them. And they looked huge. I got the torin and it was perfect! I have the tow space I love and zero drop and my foot feels stable in it. There is minimal arch support but it still feels better than any of the special fitted shoes that I’ve gotten from running shoe stores. I love that my foot isn’t sliding forward because of the zero drop. I measure at almost 7 but I always size up in running shoes a whole size. I bought h th ear in an 8 and they fit better than any of my Nikes, Brooke’s or NB. My toes do not touch the front of there shoes and that feels amazing. I see another reviews that people are saying that the tongue material scrapes their ankle. I do not have this problem. It’s not irritating me at all. ... show more
