    • My new favorite running shoes
I had been hearing and reading good things about ALTRA running shoes. I prefer a running show with no to little heel-to-toe drop—a flat, natural or “barefoot-type” shoe. These tick that box. But, unlike most barefoot shoes, these shoes have a nicely cushioned sole. As someone who’s been running while aging, cushioning is now important to me. These are not overly cushioned shoes—shoes where you feel as if you’ve sunk-in and are now pushing off from inside the shoe itself. This is a more solid, firm cushioning that helps me spring forward. These shoes are very comfortable, maybe the most comfortable running shoes I’ve had. The toe box is wide. The shape is neutral (curved-in like my foot). I don’t need any compensation in my shoes. And there is good arch support. My only complaint is the lacing at the top of the shoe where I tie the shoe. It seems cramped, like too much is going on in that space. If the laces aren’t set or adjusted properly, it can put pressure on my instep. The sole has a good grip (some recent running shoes have seemed slippery on wet surfaces), but the sole does pick up some fine gravel. I’ll be buying ALTRA again. ... show more

    • Best Introduction to Zero Drop Shoes
I love these shoes! They are my first zero drop shoes, and it took me a while to get used to not having a raised heel, but, very quickly I have come to appreciate this. My aching lower back is gone. I don't know how this works, but it does for me. I also had to get used to the huge-seeming toe box. But, I have longer middle toes, and the large toe box accommodates them perfectly. I use these shoes for walking everywhere. The orange color gets dirty pretty easily, but I find that if I take a plastic dish pad with dish soap and scrub them briefly, they clean up nicely. I like using a running shoe for walking because of the cushioning. I wear 8 mens dress shoes, and the 8.5 Altra running shoe fits well. I'm finding that they seem to get better and better with wear in terms of my appreciation for them. My next project is to find a zero drop winter boot/shoe that had the same cushioned feeling. ... show more

These shoes fit my husband well and were recommended by his podiatrist. We’ve bought several pairs and they were all well worth the price. They have lasted him very long and don’t wear out even with daily use. They help my husbands plantar fasciitis as well.

    • Overall a Great Shoe, But Don't Recommend if You Will Wear Indoors
Overall this is a very comfortable shoe with a soft upper, excellent cushioning, and unparalleled comfort. The only problem is the poorly designed outsole which could be a no-go for some people. Pros: -Luxurious comfort -Excellent fit -Perfect blend of cushion and what Altra is known for with its wide toe box and zero drop -Fun Styles -Quick Shipping Cons: -The only con I have with this shoe is the perforated outsole. It is incredibly grippy, but this also makes it very loud when you are running and it picks up and holds onto every pebble, pine needle, and piece of grass you run over. For me this was a deal breaker because I wear my shoes inside and out, and when you bring them inside after that then they scratch floors and leave debris behind. If you only wear them outside, this is the shoe for you. For me, I went with the Altra Torin which I feel had all the same excellent features but with a better designed outsole. ... show more

love them so much I had to buy another pair a week later...great price and they came quickly. Never owned a "zero drop" running shoe before and it was a game changer for this fat flat footed runner....I pr'd my 5 and 10K times by over a minute both on my last race with this shoe.....not saying it's the shoe, but the last thing I worried about on the race was my feet in fact I didnt think about them at all and focus of form and pace and getting up that next hill....before while I was pretty good, but the balls of my feet start to hurt after 2 miles the the tops of my feet....not with this shoes...and let me be clear...these work for me...I cannot and will not speak for others....but I will say I'm not alone.....do some research on them and heck if you're a runner youre crazy anyway and have tons of shoes so buy and try a pair of these...if you dont like them then use them for weightlifting, they are a extremely stable shoe...they're at a great price (well for me it was great)....good luck everybody!! -Chris ... show more

I love the Altra brand. These trainers however were problematic for me. Nice toe box, but the heel cup is very narrow. At first I took it to be just a stabilization feature and I ran a dozen or so miles in them. My right heel aches now from being squeezed. Never had this problem before, so I asked for a replacement from Amazon. Same issue with the new pair. I guess its just the model? ... show more

    • Only running shoes for me
Size: 10.5 Color: Orange/Black
For whatever reason zero drop shoes work for me. I think any runner should try them out. There is a good amount of cushion in these which work for me since I’m over 200 lbs. I formerly had medium cushion altras and although I loved the way a run felt in them they gave me noticeable wear and tear. I do not have that problem with these. They have the stability of high cushion shoes. Nothing to complain about but will not compare to thinner soles’ connection to the ground. I feel like I get less miles out of the altras than say the brooks I used to run in. Not that you do not get hundreds of miles out of them but I do feel that I wear them out sooner than other brands. The better running mechanics I have in these is a worthwhile trade off. The toe box makes a noticeable difference as well for me on stress on the foot. Your toes are allowed to splay out naturally. This does not have any rehab effect but I believe it results in less stress on the toes and foot overall. ... show more

    • Incredible durable and comfortable
Quite a late review but multiple years later and my Altra’s are still incredibly comfortable! I have plantar fasciitis and these shoes ease the pain when I’m on my feet for long hours
