  • Good

  • Inexpensive but that's OK!
Color: Alto Saxophone Repair Tool-2
This kit retails for $23 and has a few things going for it. First, if you take a saxophone to a repair shop, you know you're going to be out a $20, so fixing one spring or pad is going to cover you. I have nine saxophones that my son plays, from baritone to sopranino and several Altos. I do all my own repairs and save a literal fortune. The springs are nice and stiff. I initially started replacing broken springs with stainless ones because they're a little easier to work with, but they actually are a little softer. This can be nice but some high-mass actions need a stiff spring, and these blued springs are quite stiff (they almost look parkerized rather than blued). The assorted screws are great. I actually don't have a supply of rat-tails so I was happy to be able to do this review. If you lose one, you can be a hero and slap a new one in rather than have the instrument out-of-commision for multiple days of school band. The pads are very light, and while I wouldn't put them on a Mark VI, they'll keep that Bundy out on the marching field (IYKYK). I'd actually say that these kits would be better served with two or three of each normally-closed pads and not providing a complete set at all, because that's more applicable to repair-needs. You do have to be a bit crafty to take full advantage of a kit like this, but you can do it! Cut the new spring to the appropriate length, then put it on a concrete floor and hit the end (1-2mm or 1/16" only) with a hammer to flare it out. It'll stick in the old hole no problem. These are spring steel so they could damage a scissors, but a dremel or other abrasive wheel will be through in seconds. I do see a few similar listings, so make sure you're buying a kit on-sale and you'll be golden. ... show more

  • Woodwind parts box starter
Color: Alto Saxophone Repair Tool-2
I am overhauling some woodwinds-- an alto clarinet and a soprano sax. This is a good assortment of parts for me to start with for that.

  • Excellent kit for the money!
Color: Alto Saxophone Repair Tool-2
This Kitanis Alto Saxophone Repair Kit,118 Pcs Alto Saxophone Repair Parts Replacement Tools set is a nice kit. My daughter has two saxophones and one of them is a fairly basic Yamaha which she used for marching band. This kit is full of parts that fit well and allow for easy repairs when the sax faces abuse during the marching band season. The tools are easy to use and all the parts are easy to install. They look to be good quality and this is a great price for this many pieces. It would be a good set for a repair tech to have laying around as well. We've found it to be great for what we need to replace occasional parts or tighten things up after a "bang up" marching band trip on the busses and all of the abuse that a sax on the road gets. ... show more

  • A good thing to keep in sax case
Color: Clarinet Repair Tool-1
I keep this kit in the case (not for immediate repair, just to keep track of it so it does not get lost among my possessions). Nice selection of parts, all of which are well made. Use a good hollow ground screwdriver. I use engine honey as a lubricant. Have for years.

  • Great assortment
Color: Alto Saxophone Repair Tool-2
This alto saxophone repair kit was exactly what I needed! It comes with everything required to replace all the pads, and the quality of the materials really impressed me. I watched a quick YouTube tutorial and was able to do the whole pad replacement myself, something I never thought I’d attempt. Not only did it save me a good chunk of money on repairs, but I also learned a lot about my instrument in the process. It’s definitely a bit of a project, but if you’re even a little bit handy, it’s totally doable. Highly recommend this for any sax player looking to take care of their own gear! ... show more

  • Nice quality repair for you Saxophone
Color: Alto Saxophone Repair Tool-2
Nice pack of pads and rods for repairing your saxophone. There is enough to do a full replacement and repair. Nice quality parts and great value for the money. Time will tell how long they will last, but they feel quality.

  • Nice budget repair supply kit for alto saxophones
Color: Alto Saxophone Repair Tool-2
I got the kit with a full pad set for alto sax. I've already replaced some of the lh palm keys on my old King 613 sax that I played back in the 1980s. It's part of my experiment to do this DIY and I've learned a lot. It would have been nice if they included an instruction sheet or referred to online tips on how to do this. It also would have been nice if they included some adhesive in this kit. But overall, I can't complain. The price was right and the pads actually fit. ... show more
