  • Superb Value. Great quality.
Color: Rust Pattern Name: STOOL SEATING
I have two highly portable camping chairs. This ALPS Tri-leg stool and the Alite Mantis Chair. I bought this chair because I couldn't justify spending $90 on the Alite Mantis chair. 90 bucks is pretty steep for a chair. However, my wife surprised me with the Mantis chair as a gift for valentines (I'm a lucky/spoiled man). This Tri-leg stool from ALPS Mountaineering is absolutely awesome at the $10.00 price point. Its easier to set up than the Mantis chair (though the mantis is not difficult) and has certain advantages. When you compare this stool to typical large and bulky camping chairs with arm rests and a back, this chair is WAY more convenient when it comes to portability. It only weighs 2 lbs and fits in my day hike bag (Kelty Goshawk). Its a little long to fit inside a normal book bag but my guess is that most people will buy this for long hikes where weight and size is an issue. I would rather use the large bulky folding chairs for car camping. However, if you plan on kayaking, canoeing, hiking, or some other form of travel where bulk and weight might be an issue, I highly recommend this chair. The chair itself is comfortable when sitting on it. It does not have a back so it won't be anywhere near as comfortable when compared to the Alite Mantis. It also doesn't pack as small as the Mantis. The Mantis would likely fit in almost any typical book bag and just about every hiking pack. The mantis is also weighs a little less. That being said though, this chair has two practical advantages over the Mantis. 1. You can buy 9 of these for every 1 Mantis. If price is a big deal for you, this might be a deal breaker. 2. Because its a tripod, you tend to lean forward. This can make it more comfortable than chairs with a back if you are tending to a fire or doing something other than lounging/relaxing. The quality of this chair is excellent. I've used it twice so far and I think it will last me a long time. For the price, you can't go wrong. I wouldn't hesitate to take this chair with me to other places where a light weight chair might be practical, such as a sporting event with limited seating, a car show, watching fireworks, etc. Even though I prefer my Alite Mantis to this chair, I do not regret purchasing this tripod and highly recommend it. Excellent value. ... show more

  • Very sturdy and works great. Very sturdy and works great.
Color: Gray/Ocean - New Pattern Name: STOOL SEATING
This portable chair is an absolute game changer for me. I walk 2 dogs every day about 4 miles a day.I also walk with a cane. I ordered it thinking that I could carry it with me which I can, but I decided to attach it to my cane. It works wonderfully and now when I get tired. I just open it up and sit down and relax while the dogs are playing. It is of great quality and very sturdy. It's funny because I was going to send it back but I decided it would not take more than three screws to attach it to my cane and my problem would be solved. It is a great value.Thank you so much ... show more

  • Great stool and lightweight.
Color: Eggplant Pattern Name: STOOL SEATING
Great Stool and Sturdy. Just an oddity is the carry strap is on the stool and NOT the protective canvas sleeve. So the sleeve is useless except to keep it from being tangled up in the trunk.

  • Great stool
Color: Gray/Ocean - New Pattern Name: STOOL SEATING
The ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool is a compact and highly portable seating solution perfect for campers, hikers, anglers, and outdoor event-goers. Designed with simplicity and durability in mind, this stool punches above its weight when it comes to comfort and reliability — especially considering its low profile and lightweight frame. Portability and Setup One of the biggest advantages of the Tri-Leg Stool is how lightweight and easy to transport it is. Weighing just over 2 pounds and folding down into a compact size, it fits effortlessly into backpacks or attaches to the outside using the included shoulder strap. Setup is instantaneous — just unfold it and sit. There are no complicated mechanisms or adjustments to worry about, which makes it ideal for quick breaks on the trail or when setting up camp. Comfort and Stability While it's a minimalist design, the stool is surprisingly comfortable for short to medium sitting sessions. The triangular seating surface offers enough space to shift slightly and relax, though it may not be ideal for extended periods. The stool sits at a decent height (around 16-18 inches, depending on the model), which is comfortable for most adults. The steel frame is impressively sturdy, supporting up to 250 pounds. The legs have wide, non-slip feet that provide good stability on dirt, grass, and even some uneven surfaces. You don’t get that shaky feeling that comes with many budget stools. Build Quality As with many ALPS Mountaineering products, the quality is noticeable. The fabric is a tough, weather-resistant polyester that resists tearing, and the stitching feels solid. The tripod frame folds smoothly, and the rivets and hinges appear built to last through regular use. Final Verdict The ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool is a fantastic grab-and-go seat for anyone who values lightweight, durable gear. It's ideal for hiking trips, music festivals, fishing, or even keeping in the trunk for surprise outdoor moments. While it’s not a replacement for a full camp chair, it delivers exactly what it promises: quick, dependable seating on the go. Rating: 4.5/5 – A simple, sturdy, and highly packable outdoor essential. ... show more

  • I find this stool to be very comfortable. I have an athletic build and my bottom ...
Color: Rust Pattern Name: STOOL SEATING
Initial impressions are as follows (I will update as needed): Size: The seat measures 13" from point to point with the same for the legs. The user will sit 15" off the ground. At around 6'1" and 180 in my birthday suit, I find this stool to be very comfortable. I have an athletic build and my bottom settles into the webbing like a hammock. In comparison to the most popular folding stool, the Travelchair Slacker Chair (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019N36B2/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1), the ALPS is much more comfortable. The extra 2 inches of height on the Travelchair made for a less comfortable sitting position and the seat and base are substantially smaller. The ALPS stool does not bother my "man parts" while the Travelchair was noticeably intrusive and instantly uncomfortable. Weight: About 2 lbs (maybe less) which is light enough that I would not hesitate to take this backpacking. It is no more heavy than an umbrella. Size: About as long as a loaf of bread and half the circumference this can be carried in the supplied nylon cinch sack or by the small shoulder strap. It would fit in just about any backpack. Construction: The seat fabric is nicely stitched and reinforced at the edges and the bearing points. It is riveted into the base poles so you wont lose it but you would have to hand wash it. The strap around the feet is a nice feature as it will keep the stool from failing and because it is a tripod, it should be stable on most surfaces. It has a Velcro strap around the top to secure the legs when folded and this is also riveted so it will not get lost. Overall, I like this seat very much and sat on it for 30 minutes with no discomfort. I will now buy more of these as the price ($10) is excellent especially with a lifetime warranty. I will use this to change boots in the parking lots when we snowboard and hike and any other time I want to have a nice place to sit a spell without lugging around a folding chair. One more thing: I have 9 year old twin boys so size was a consideration for them as well. This stool seems to fit us all so it's a big win for the active family with kiddos. Enjoy! ... show more

  • Happy tail end! ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool
Color: Deep Sea - New Pattern Name: STOOL SEATING
I had my doubts! We have two. My wife and I are older and have a hard time squatting down or taking a knee to work on things requiring us to be close to the ground. After reading other reviews on this little guy, we decided to give it a shot. It is actually pretty comfortable! Not a full sized recliner kind of comfort but for what it is, surprisingly very comfortable for short work projects. I could see it being a welcome small seat when out on a hike as well. A little rest off the tired feet without sitting on dirty damp earth. VERY light weight, quick and easy to set up. It requires very little room to store away and convenient to carry if out for a hike. I'm 6 ft 240 and it is fine for me and my little lady is 5 ft 4 inches and it works well for us both. I should have bought us a couple of these years ago! ... show more

I'm 82 and much too old to stand for a two-hour protest, This very lightweight, easy to set up stool is the perfect solution. It's only 2 pounds so I can just slip it on my wrist while carrying a heavy sign!
