Construction and Safety: The construction is fantastic. Exactly what I would expect from Alpinestars. You’re paying for a premium product and the materials reflect that. The leather is very smooth and soft. Stitching quality is excellent and safety stitching runs throughout the pants. I love how they have integrated the hard armor over the knee caps in this version of the pants. They do stick out a bit further then other pants when standing up but on the bike you don’t notice it at all. The hip armor is attached by Velcro and you can position it where you need it for optimal comfort. The stretch material in the calf has a zipper that allows the calf panel to stretch if you need the extra room to get the pants on or off or you have larger legs. Also these pants flow air very well when riding due to the perforations and stretch panels. A great pant for the street or track. When matched with the missile ignition jacket you essentially have the same protection as the missile ignition one piece suit with the exception of removable elbow sliders. I do have one complaint about the construction of the pants. For $600 I feel that alpinestars should of included hip armor that is rated CE level 2 instead of the level 1 it comes with. Come on alpinestars you’re charging a premium over your other pants you could of thrown in the $30 level 2 hip armor. Fit: Race pants are supposed to be tight to keep the armor in place during a fall. Also be aware that leather stretches as you sweat into it. If you’re planning on using these for the track I’d recommend using the size chart and finding as close to your size as possible focusing on the waist size. I’m 5’7” 170lbs with a 33” waist. I ordered the size 48 which is a size 32 us jeans. The pants were the right length but were tight every where. The waist was so tight I couldn’t even get the clasp closed lol. But as I stated earlier wear the pants and let them stretch it will break in and stretch a bit. I used a leather luxor leather conditioner, water to moisten the leather around the waist, then spent a few hours wearing them around the house. I went from barley being able to zip them up to a snug comfortable fit. The rest of the pants loosened up without any water or leather conditioner just by wearing them. If I was looking for more of a comfort fit I would of went a size up to 50. I feel even with upsizing the armor would still be held in the right spot during a crash. Value: I definitely would buy them again. If money is no problem you can’t get a more protective pant then these. Especially when matched up with a tech air jacket and vest. These are the best of the best for the lower part of a two piece suit. I bought these along with the Missile Ignition jacket and Tech Air Race Vest to replace a Joe Rocket Speedmaster 5.0 two piece suit. You can really feel the difference in the materials used when comparing the two side by side. That being said it, it comes at a premium cost, double the cost of most pants out there. ... show more
