I was up on the roof the other day trying to tack down some loose flashing. They claim to be self taping, but they would not penetrate the thicker flashing I was using. If I was vertical and could apply more force it would probably be ok. Hanging out over the edge of a roof I only had one hand at times and could not get them to penetrate the metal. My solution was to pound them a bit with a hammer to get through the metal then screw them in. That worked great and they really hold the metal in place. Just for a test I tried thinner flashing and they went through like butter. I am also happy to have the magnetic driver or I would have lost half of them.

These screws are a decent quality - they went through some scrap metal roofing and into a 4x4 without much resistance, and without any type of drilled guide hole. The magnetism is always great to have and saves from the occasional fumble. Having the washer attached to the screw is a convenient addition, and they are a non-descript muted grey. Pretty much what you'd hope to expect with a setup like this. The only qualm is that the case they are stored in simply won't hold shut while in transit - I can guarantee you receive a bag of screws and an open case, not too big of an issue, but one of those things that should be easily avoided... they've made a great product and messed up the easiest part of having them in a secure case. Overall - great screws - we will be installing metal roofing onto our cabin and feel totally confident these will do the trick.

I don't think I would trust these for a roof of a house because they have a some screw threads that aren't perfect, either weak threads or the starting thread isn't set up correctly with like a blob of metal clogging the self starter. Not world ending but if I wasd doing a large section or something I had to get up a big ladder or scaffoled to replace I wouldn't want these screws but for a shed or projects like we are doing these are more than enough as the grommets are high quality.

These are a high quality roofing screw. I'm a certified metal roof installer so I am very familiar with roof fasteners. These have a specialized coating that has been tested to outlast hot dipped galvanized roofing screws. The abrasion resistance is considerably higher as well. That seems like a strange thing to be concerned with, but over 10 to 40 years the rain and wind do a lot of abrading. Four stars because this package of 60 is a bit high priced at $.15 per screw. I would look for $.10 or 11 cents per screw. But an excellent product and no hassling going to the store.

This product seems to be everything it really claims to be. It says "anti-corrosion" coating, which really could be anything, and mean anything, but they appear to me to be electro-galvanized. I like that they include a magnetic hex driver bit with the set. I also like that the washers don't have any of the "coating" on them (for a multitude of reasons). I like the high-low threads, making them ideal for metal and wood combinations; ideal for the metal roofing application. I also like that they are self taping. At a quantity of 60, this is not nearly enough to tackle a full roof project, nor an addition, but it is enough for a small project, small shed or dog house maybe, that sort of thing.

Purchased these to hold in clear plastic panels on a greenhouse and for this they worked perfectly. Screws are well formed and coated in rust inhibiting coating. Good value and recommended.

I used pilot holes. These babies pulled the roofing tight. The rubber gasket makes a great seal. These should last a long long time. Very happy with them. About my reviews: I receive Vine items free in exchange for my honest review. I only order items I can use, wear, learn to use, and have need of now or in the near future. I consider the performance as well as the value in the same way I review items I pay for. When you read my reviews, you can trust the item was actually put to use.

A few years back I redid my entire roof in sheet metal and went through boxes of tecks (in background of picture three for comparison). These have a slightly larger head and a thread pattern that seems to cut into the steel quite nicely. They also throw in a magnetized bit for your drill which is a nice touch. The only thing that felt a bit off was the chintzy box they come it. The latches on the box are taped shut because it's clear that if it were tossed into a toolbox you'd be digging through the bottom to find them by the time you go to the job site. I'll be transferring them into something else. All said, great little screw that performs as advertised.
