I've always worn better than average shoes. When you wear size 8, you need good shoes. Anyway, one day I went berserk and bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Men's Carlyle Oxford. They were comfortable from minute #1 and I haven't regretted the purchase for even a second. When I switched to my old good shoes for a week -- WOW what a difference. The Allen Edmonds shoes were much better. I now own two pairs and they are both great. I alternate them each day and use shoe trees at night -- both practices are highly recommended. One other note: Allen Edmonds shoe polish is excellent. I was using the brand you get at the grocery store and what a noticeable difference it makes to use the Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish. Not sure why, but it is much better stuff. Bottom line: If you need excellent black dress shoes that are comfortable enough to wear for long days including long treks through airports, I highly recommend these. As for the price ... How much do you spend for tires on your car? My last set cost $500. I decided that I am worth $300 for awesome shoes. ... show more

Size: 10.5 Color: Black Custom Calf
These are my favorite Allen Edmonds shoes that I own. I have a few pairs and my other ones all have some small thing that I don't love (a little squeaking, a little pinching, etc.) but that has been slowly improving with time. These on the other hand were absolutely perfect from the get go and after a few months of wearing still feel absolutely perfect. I all really enjoy the clean lines of not having a cap-toe or brogue on the toe. It will probably show more creasing because of this, but I'm fine with that. ... show more

I bought these for my husband and they look great and are high quality. The only downside is that they run very narrow. They do come in wide at the Allen Edmonds stores and direct website, but we opted to just get them stretched at a local shoe repair shop. They still need some breaking in but are wearable now! ... show more

Allen Edmonds are fantastic shoes, I own five pair already. I ordered this pair rather than going to a brick a mortar store. Though the size was the same as my other shoes, I found these to be a bit large. I returned the shoes. Great shoes from AE. This is my second pair. The other pair I have had for ~6 years and just get them resoled. If you are looking for a classic black shoe that you can wear with a wide variety of clothing, from a suit to jeans, this is the one to get. It is classic and will not go out of style.
