I live in a very old drafty Victorian house that has a lot of bay windows and large open doorways. Being a huge fan of the Addams Family I did a little research into what was traditionally used for cover doorways with no actually door or large entryways. Portières have been used for ages to confine and keep the heat in one room or a series of rooms. These require THICK curtains (which I have used before) but I wanted a nice decorative twist. These fit the bill. I am very happy with the thickness and quality of these curtains. There are not 100% light blocking but I'd say 95% the get really dark. I like the attached valance as well as the sheer. Anyone who has had to do curtains knows it's a royal pain to get things online to match, not to mention expensive. These were the same price as the SINGLE curtains I bought last year with no sheer that were visually similar. Very happy with my purchase, will be purchasing again. They fit perfectly over the large double doorway to my kitchen (48" wide) and are not stretched too thin. It gives the impression they are very thick and robust (which to be honest, they are) but also they are $$$ which they aren't ;) They are also perfectly Eggplant color, which is what I wanted. A dusty dark purple. I will have to hem them a little---but that's not a problem. They fit into a thick 1.5" rod with ease. keep in mind these are heavier curtains so you'd need something more substantial to keep them up---I'd recommend an actual curtain rod or cupped dowel rod. Tension rods will fail, even the thick ones. I kind of wish the sheer was detachable---but I'm crafty enough to make that work. TLDR: Pros- Thick Voluminous Light blocking (95%) Keeps heat in rooms and drafts OUT when used as a portière Keeps drafts OUT when used as a curtain (as long as tight against window) Fancy as Hell Gorgeous design and color Matching set---it's a window treatment in a bag Heavy duty and Thick Cons- Heavy (weight) Non detachable sheer (not an issue for me) Bulky (again not an issue for me---might be for some?) Just the Tips: Make sure you use a strong rod to hold these guys--tension rods will not do---trust me on this. Even shower curtain rods. They may work for a bit but these guys are heavy and they will fall. Keep in mind if you have taller people in the house it might be annoying to walk through them. Enjoy! ... show more

They are even more beautiful than the picture! True to color. They are heavy. They keep 99% of the light out when closed. The lining of the curtains, you might want to steam iron them. But the heavy part of the curtains are wrinkle-free. At least that’s the way mine were. But they are sooo beautiful. Like I said they are more beautiful than the pictures on amazon. I think I was a little confused by the listing, but that's fine. The tie-backs really were not good, they shed everywhere and when I tried to take the shedding pieces off the fringe, they immediately started to fray everywhere so I just threw them out. Otherwise, the overall fabric is thick and nice, the 'sheer' under parts is cheap lining fabric (think a jacket with a cheap lining that's going to split at the seam in 2 months) and snags easily on anything. They washed and dried fine and hung fine. They're not a total blackout, so if you're looking for that, you're going to have to change the inner liner. ... show more

gorgeous and very cute curtains!!! unfortunately not blackout fully though, they have a red tint that shines through with bright light (I live in the sunshine state to be exact so i was really looking for darker curtains), and im just not a fan of it glowing through, otherwise when theyre put up theyre super cute!! mine came very unwrinkled too which i was happy about, the quality is overall very nice for what you pay for, and they're a very average weight but pretty thick. ... show more
