We purchased the camera mainly to be able check on children and our brand new puppy when we are out of house. For this purpose it works great as the camera actually follows persons and pets (complete rotation up/ down right/ left). The picture quality is great and the app is very intuitive, allowing all kinds of notification/ recording modes. It can also be adjusted recognize if people and/pets are around which is great if you like to check on your dog but not children or the other way around. The camera can also be used to directly communicate via the app as it has an internal loudspeaker. The front of the camera lights up blue if operating which is great if you want to know if it is recording and sending pictures into the cloud. Nightvision and integrated flash light allow to remotely scan a dark room if needed. Setup was very easy and straight forward, just follow the instructions. There is a step in which the camera pairs with the app by scanning a barcode on the phone screen by the camera itself. We actually used the camera not from a ceiling socket but upside down in a standing lamp (we removed the lamp cover) which works great as we do not have single ceiling lamp socket available ( all our lamps are either chandelier or the type where bulbs are covered by non seethrough glass). The software easily adjusts for that and this allows us to place the camera wherever we want. As the camera is designed to be pointing down there is a little blindspot if you use it as we do (bulp pointing up): anything that's near and below might not be captured (e.g you place it on a table, it won't be able to move the field of vision down towards the floor RIGHT in front of the table). This kind of restriction is expected as this would be the ceiling itself when used hanging down. Just be aware of this when placing the camera. The home surveillance security system seemed like an expensive and complicated process. But WOW was I wrong about both factors. The cameras are solid and durable. I have mine outside and it had no problem in an ohio 15 degree snow storm. The setup is incredibly easy if you have stable wifi internet. Connection stays strong through the basement to the garage door light fixture about 40ft away - with all kinds of metallic obstacles & large appliances in between. Through the storms rain or snow I have every feature of this awesome camera at my fingertips. Video is clear during daylight and night vision is exactly what i wanted. I love getting the alerts to people on the property. Great sense of security.The app is quick to setup and easy to use. I bought 2 ALKIVISION cameras for my first order and just ordered another two. Can't imagine life without the extra security. Anybody can do it. ... show more

First of all I purchased these cameras to fill in where I don’t have my Ring cameras. The Ring is expensive to buy so many at a time. . And I like to shop deals so once Prime day or Black Friday rolls around I will probably get more rings to mount higher on the outside of my house. Where they can’t be unscrewed from a socket like these cameras can. That being said these camera have a way better quality of video and I like that you can rotate the camera on line a whole 360 and rotate to see directly below. Alert notification of motion person or pet detection is quick has a siren or alarm that you can send if you need to deter a thief. Live video is great. Ease of set up with a scan QR ability or manually through the app is super easy and fast. Great tracking ability. I bought a socket extension and put in my recessed light in my kitchen. Will buy more for our door and garage. Overall loved this camera it was way better than my expected. I bought two at 50 % off. And I am m going to get 3 or 3 more of the sale is still happening. Only con is that the app is not as user friendly as the Ring. But I am learning to get around on it. ... show more

I bought this camera because I wanted the security a camera provides without the high price of the popular doorbell cameras. Could a decent camera be had for less money? The camera is easy to install. Screw it in the socket where you normally would the bulb on your porch light. Download the app and use it to connect the camera to your wi-fi. You can adjust the settings right from your phone within the app. You may need to center the camera manually to ensure its field of view is centered when you pan/tilt the camera using your phone or tablet. The night vision is clear and bright although you can also use the White Light feature to really brighten things up. You can turn on the microphone to hear people or whatever else is outside your door and there is a speaker so you can talk back. There is also a siren/alarm function, which is loud. You can adjust the sensitivity as well as whether the camera tracks people only or pets or any movement at all. The motion tracking works well and I set it to "medium". The camera stores events (people knocking on your door,etc.) for 3 days without paying for a subscription or inserting an SD card although you can choose to do either or both to extend this function. I found 3 days to be enough for my needs. You can set alerts to notify you when the camera detects motion while you are away and using your phone you can see and interact with the camera in real time. Verdict: An all aroud great camera,especially at this price point. Excellent. ... show more
