  • Don’t use if you have a pacemaker and other heart modifications, needed for Abib only
The box includes the devise and quick directions on how to set it up and use it – download their app, register on their site, set the devise on the inside of your left ankle with the arrow pointed toward you and put your thumbs on either side of the arrow, start the app and wait for the 30 second countdown to end. It shows 6 squiggly lines and in my test run it indicated full battery charge, my pulse rate and thankfully “Normal Sinus Rhythm”. It only took a few minutes to get my first EKG done, so it is very easy and fast to set up and use. I wondered about the battery, since it didn’t come with a charger, and there is no mention of it in the quick start guide. Do you have to buy a new device when it runs out? So I downloaded an 18 page manual from the manufacturers web site. As I was reading through the long list of warnings, I noticed that you should NOT use it if you have a pacemaker or many other internally implanted devices. It doesn’t say why – does the feedback ruin the KardiaMobile devise, or does it short out the pacemaker and kill the user? I would think this warning should be in their advertisements, on the box and prominently on the quick start booklet that comes with the device, not hidden in the directions that I’m guessing most people don’t even look for or read. The manual indicated the battery should be replaced at a watch or hearing aid repair shop and the KardiaMobile service (not battery) life is about 2 years. The manual is pretty good but it doesn’t give you any instructions on how to interpret the readout yourself. When I open the App two annoying and time consuming add screens pop up trying to get me to buy their monthly bonus plan for just under $10/m. I haven’t tried to send a reading to my own cardiologist so I’m not sure how that will work out. From what I can tell, it really is needed to check for one thing only – “possible” Atrial Fibrillation. The other two “conditions” it checks for you could diagnose by checking your pulse. The manual indicates it will tell you have “bradycardia” if your heart rate is less than 50 bpm, and tachycardia if your heart rate is higher than 100 bpm, which may or may not even be an issue. It doesn’t appear that the shape of any of the 6 curves is used in detecting the last two conditions, at least not that I can tell reading the manual. Due to their lack of warning, I used this device before I found out you shouldn’t use it if you have a pacemaker. Luckily, I don’t have a pacemaker, so I am alive to write this review and warn folks who do. So, bottom line, if you don’t have a pacemaker like device in you and you are interested in knowing if you have Afib, this device may be of some use. I found it easy and fast to set up and use. ... show more

  • Well worth the price for peace of mind
I love the quick, easy, and detailed option of the 6 lead EKG result. It saves the results as well and you can add tags and notes to your results. It helped me to more adequately make the decision to stop my meds for AFib as I have been extremely fortunate and have only had one episode for which I was hospitalized almost a year ago now. So far no other episodes detected by the device or cardiologist. I had a lot of problems with the meds for AFib and am grateful to be able to discontinue them. I know it is highly likely that AFib will return at some point but in the meantime I am going to live and enjoy my life and be grateful as I am a recent cancer survivor of 2 years. This device was well worth the money! ... show more

  • Very easy to use with the Apple watch app, and well with the money.
In early June, my Apple watch detected several overnight aFib activities. I had been controlling high blood pressure with medication. I decided to purchase the Kardia Mobile. It detected multiple instances of aFib, and my blood pressure readings were high, along with other symptoms that led me to decide to go to the hospital emergency room on a Thursday evening, where I was admitted for overnight observation, in part because of the records of the Kardia Mobile. I was monitored overnight, and released Saturday afternoon. No heart irregularities were detected but I was treated with antibiotics for a severe asymptomatic bladder infection. Instructions were to follow up with my primary care doctor which I did. My cardiologist was out of town. The infection cleared and my PCP told me “not to panic” over a few aFib readings. He said many people go in and out routinely. Of course. I know my cardiologist will order follow up cardio testing. Here’s what I like about my six lead Kardia Mobile. The hospital staff and and my PCP were familiar with the device; and I was able to print several days readings for my personal records plus record notes and other symptoms that were happening alongside the Kardia readings. After the infection cleared the Kardia reports have been normal. Along with my morning and evening blood pressure records, I now have records of my sinus rhythms for the same periods. Very easy to use with the Apple Watch app, and well with the money. ... show more

  • Lay device just above knee or on left ankle, its amazing.
Try putting left ankle flat and then put device on ankle. Put fingers on top like regular mode and arrow pointing up. You will see SIX leads which may or may not mean anything. It complicates the results given. If you want to have doctor online review your results, pay for the monthly subscription. I haven’t found a doctor, including specialist who has one of these. It could also be difficult sending your results to your doctors to review. So if you're results concern you, an online doctor can interpret the results cheaper than an ER visit. NOTE: Stay away from advanced views for your personal checks. Unless you are studying medicine, these results change to a more technical review. I noticed I had to reboot or clean my cell phone memory often in advanced mode. I am not a doctor or medical technician. I just looked at this for my benefit. I feel better knowing that I can look at my results anytime I wish, but this device won’t tell you that you’re having a heart attack. It’s limited. No A fib results on mine so far. It also won’t tell you to get off your a— and walk. Muscles need to be worked. Heart has muscles. ... show more
