I really wish that things without drainage holes would stop being listed as succulent pots, they are really not appropriate, but since this is resin I might be able to drill a hole at the bottom of the head, it is pretty thick resin so I haven't tried yet. For now I am going to put a smaller terracotta pot with drainage so I can allow my soil to drain properly and not risk death with my plants. But, this planter is well made, I love the little Kodama planter, it pleasantly glows in the dark and it is made from sturdier resin than I am used to in planters of late. I like how the planter area is rounded off and not full of ripples and weird divots, so if you want to try a plant in it then there is nowhere for roots to get tangled. ... show more

As a specialty item, I am thrilled with it, but the quality could be better. It looks a lot like the kodama from a Ghibli film that I love, and the glow works well (it glows for hours after exposure to light by a sunny window). While the overall shape is great, the resin isn't the smoothest and there's a small hole in the crook of one of the legs. For holding a plant, it's shallow and has no drainage. You can use it for a small succulent, but only if you give it little sips of water. I'm delighted with it, but that's because I prioritize the unique design over it's practical use. There aren't a lot of decorative items with these little creatures and they're usually expensive. This one is inexpensive and it glows! ... show more

    • Cute but some minor drawbacks
I really do like this little alien planter - but - there are a few drawbacks. The planter bowl itself is 2.25" wide, and only about 1.6" deep at the center - and is shaped like a bowl - with no drainage hole. if you want to add an interior pot with drainage, I found that a small plastic condiment container from a deli fits pretty well. The design of the planter is really cute - and seems to be hand made, from some type of polymer, then cured to dry hard. It's pretty thick and heavy at the base - so it actually took a few days in a window to be able to 'charge up' enough to glow in the dark. The glow on the whole thing is uneven - but it's there for sure. Unfortunately the polymer seemed to pick up some kind of black scuff marks and areas of discoloration on different parts of it - and it doesn't wash off. I still like it - the artwork is cool but the finishing quality isn't top notch. ... show more

This guy is so adorable, he looks like he was plucked from a studio ghibli movie and plopped right in my house. I did love him so much when I got him but unfortunately for me, he was immediately taken by my son into his little teenage cave of a bedroom so I'll probablt never see this planter again. The glowing feature made him extra unique. Thankfully I had plenty of succulents to choose from already in my home so he is rocking a very cool hair-do. This thing is TINY but so cute! It feels like stone, and the details on the alien are adorable. I guess I should have read the listing better, as it does not come with any plant. It does glow in the dark and looks very cute lit up, it does not provide light though as the picture shows.
