    • Incoming texts sometimes glitch with emojis not in library set (voice/text only)
Overall, this phone is leaps and bounds better than the old Nokia phone that was voice/text only. This phone definitely is better at picking up cell signals, but it sometimes requires a multimedia message download (i.e. data capability) if you get a text message with too fancy emojis. Basic ones are OK, but if your plan doesn't have data (like mine), then you have to ask the sender to strip out the emojis. Also, when drafting a text message, the predictive text feature is useless: the "predictions" are awful. It's better to just type each character one by one. Other than those relatively minor issues, I truly like the phone. You can work around its shortcomings, and the performance of all other features is high-quality even with a phone plan without data. My main complaint with my old phone is weak detection of cell signal (dropped calls): not a problem with the Alcatel Flip 4 with T-Mobile. ... show more

    • Works With Mint Mobile
The phone is branded with the T-Mobile logo and I was a little concerned that it wouldn't work with Mint but since Mint runs off the T-Mobile network all I had to do was insert the SIM card and it immediately started working, I didn't have to adjust any of the settings. The buttons are huge and the volume is loud, I had to adjust the volume setting to a low setting because it was so loud. This is a good phone for seniors. ... show more

    • This phone was locked to BOOST mobile, who will NOT unlock it.
After starting up the phone and getting the CCK Code entry, I called Mint, ordered (payed for) a new sim card, who believed the CCK code would go away when adding the new card. It did not. I called TCL (the manufacturer) whose customer service rep stated explicitly that the IMEI number to this phone was locked to BOOST Mobile, and they were the only ones who could provide a CCK Code. I called Boost Mobile, who stated flatly that they could not unlock the phone until it was on their network for at least 12 months (talk about a scam). I am returning the phone and warning everyone to be cautious with this seller. ... show more

    • Kids in trouble?
My kid is in trouble. His smart phone got taken away and got this instead. I still want to be able to call or receive calls from him if needed. You are able to use some apps and internet with this but I turned off his data from our service provider so he can only call or text.

    • Very Useful and Big Numbers
I go this for my mom to replace an existing flip phone. It's very easy to use and for her to remember how to use. She's elderly and the newer gadgets get too confusing. This is a solid, great phone to use.
