I bought this for a relative who was battling cystic acne. I knew that she had spent alot of money on product after product, visited skin doctor, used antibiotic prescriptions, etc looking for some relief... but nothing seemed to help. So I got this for her to try.. (btw i just want to say that seeing her painful battle with acne my heart aches for anyone who is facing such a struggle..😔I am so very sorry for any sadness or pain it has caused you) It's been awhile back since I had given her this Alba Acnedote and I just thought today to ask her what her experience was like with using it.. She mentioned that at first she noticed that some of the inflammation in her blemishes decreased.. she said some bumps did seem to go away quicker and that overall it seemed to help... but she said that those benefits lasted for about a month or so.. she said after that month it seemed that her skin became immune to it and it seemed like it no longer helped. After trying alot more products, visiting the doctor again, getting another antibiotic prescription etc she has decided to try a different approach. She said she watched a video where someones acne cleared up just from changing their diet. After thinking about it she realized most of her foods were inflammatory foods.. the wrong choices for acne. The person in the video had cut out all dairy, fried and sugary foods.. they added vegetables, beans and other healthy choices to their meals each day. She felt this was worth a try so she has since changed her diet and her outlook. Also, she started rubbing pure aloe vera gel fresh from the leaf on her skin every day.. I will give an update in a couple of weeks to let yall know how this is going for her👍 I'm excited that she seems determined to stick with a healthier diet and is trying this with a fresh, positive outlook😊 UPDATE: (2/26/21) She is still on the natural foods diet.. it seems to be going well.. She is blending fruits and veggies each morning.. she still isn't eating any sugary, fried, or processed foods. This has required much self-control and discipline to not eat junk foods but she seems determined. She was tired of battling the acne and she felt the antibiotics had been causing her more problems. She has realized that she feels better when she is eating healthier anyways both mentally and physically👍 Also, she quit rubbing the Aloe vera on her skin as it was seeming to dry it out a bit this winter.. she has started trying to add more moisture which she has heard is actually good for acne prone skin. She is currently using tamanu oil as her face moisturizer. So far her skin is looking good👍I'm impressed.. hoping it continues for her! I will try to give an update in a few more weeks. UPDATE: (3/5/21) I just had to give another update.. She is so very excited!!! The change in her diet has made a drastic improvement in her skin!!! I couldnt believe the difference😍 For anyone who is wondering what her diet has been lately I want to share. She blends a shake in the morning that consists of frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cucumber, romaine, fresh ginger root, tumeric, and organic pea protein powder. Her meals for lunch & for supper vary each day.. sometimes it's a salad, beans & whole grain brown rice, red lentil pasta, baked sweet potatoes or other vegetables. She eats all different types of fish but has cut out most all meats and cooking oils from her diet. She also has cut out gluten.. she bakes most foods with chickpea flour. Also, in baking desserts she substitutes the oil with applesauce. It's a very interesting diet but hey it seems to be working very well for her so far and hoping it continues to go well😁 I will try to update again in a few weeks any changes or new things she's learned. UPDATE: (4/11/21) Although her skin greatly improved with her diet she was still having some smaller breakouts.. someone mentioned supplementing Vitamin b5(pantothenic acid) and how much it helps acne.. At first she was hesitant thinking this would just be another thing that probably wouldn't work but she did some research online about it and she was amazed at how thoroughly it has worked for sooo many. So she is very excited and hopeful that this will definitely help. Will give an update on how it turns out. UPDATE: (10/12/21) The diet thing was really difficult for her to follow with her schedule and all.. but she did find something that so far has been helping her more than anything else she has tried. It is called Effaclar Dermatological Acne Treatment.. its a 3-Step system. She's been using it over a month now and so far has been really pleased with the results. I would recommend doing research on it first and maybe reading some reviews before trying to make sure before spending the money on it. Also, besides using the Effaclar she has continued to stay off any dairy products as she has noticed a definite link between eating dairy and having breakouts. And she eats less sugar too. Used for acne ( blackheads, whiteheads, the ones with pus) included a before and after pic. Makes my skin feel so clean but doesn't dry it out. I have the wash, the astringent, the spot treatment, the scrub ( I only use the scrub for body acne) and the pimple patches). I used the wash 2x a day and the astringent 2x a day at first to clear things up, after the breakouts were gone I do the astringent 2x a day but the wash only at night and do a more hydrating wash in the morning. ... show more

This is third time ordering this product, love the astringent, however top of bottle was lose and leaked to below label on the bottle lost at least an ounce or more. Non-returnable. They need to add safety seal to prevent leaking during shipment.

I'm a Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer kind of girl. The Perricone product works, but I went vegan and I know that Dr. Perricone does uses DMAE which is derived from wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon. I love that Perricone product and I thought all was lost when I had to give it up as nothing gave me those type of results: deep down clean, blackhead removal, exfoliation, and skin clearing. Alba's Deep Clean Astrigent isn't as dramatic of an improvement as the Perricone's Intensive Pore Minimizer, Dr. Perricone offers a deeper exfoliation. That being said, I'm satisfied with the Alba product and felt refreshed. My skin felt smooth. I'm sure my pores will get in line after a few more uses. Perricone's was a more immediate result, but for a natural product Alba's is the best natural product I've tried. Made my skin tingle a bit reminiscent of Sea Breeze. It's an official astringent which is intended to tighten the appearance of pores. It removed the residue of cleanser that remained after I used my Clairisonic brush which is usually minimal, but it picked up some gunk. I love the refreshing way my skin felt after use. My skin is combination: dry cheeks with an oily t-zone. I break out during the hormonal phase. I'm in my 30's and am concerned mainly with fine lines and uneven skin tone. The texture of my skin is baby smooth, but I notice fine lines on the forehead and enlarged pores on and around the nose. I am very pleased with this Astringent. I have been struggling with adult acne for more than a few years. I have tried natural homemade receipts to lots of harsh chemicals. I used the Burts Bees Acne toner before I switched to this version. I like this one so much more. The Burt's Bees version burns my face a bit more. This one is more gentle, though if you have any open zits on face, you can feel the sting right on the zit. I use this toner every evening before bed. I cannot attribute my acne free face to this astringent only, but whatever combination I currently have, has kept me acne free for two months now. I have tried many different combos of acne products, so it is finally wonderful to find something that works for me. This astringent has alcohol in it. Alcohol can be drying for some people. I initially avoided alcohol when looking for toners, but I have tried so many different types that I eventually gave in to the alcohol kind. I honestly have no complaints. The alcohol isn't too drying for myself. You can smell the alcohol slightly if you take a direct sniff from the bottle. The product also has a lovely citrusy scent.
