These are legacy types of products. They are solid and, in my opinion, safe products both in the shower and "in the elements" found outside your home. Just follow the straightforward cleaning and covering instructions from Ala Teak. They come already assembled, with sustainable teak harvested from Indonesia. That is important. Yes, this is our 4th purchase of this item. They make great gifts to those who know, and this retired captain is now looking for purchase number 5 (when I find the right price). Now, for my uses: As a sea-going officer, I am fond of teak because it is a magical wood; it looks innocent, comforting, and beautiful to behold, and durable, unlike the many that say water resistant, etc. Real teak is listed as waterproof; surprise, it's teak. So my additional uses are as a printer table, bedroom side tables, a valued statue, or an art presentation display base, a platform, an outdoor table or bench, etc. Think outside the box, and you can tell me even more. When necessary, they are perfect in the shower - its intended purpose. Just dry after use because hard water seems everywhere, and this captain wants the teak adequately maintained and ready for inspection. Good quality piece. Solid. Comfortable. Looks great. No assembly. So far it’s doing well in the shower. Time will see how well it holds up but overall this is a great piece and functions as advertised.

    • Very nice teak shower chair!
I had been wanting a teak shower chair for well over a year. I looked at a teak shower chair a few times at Bed, Bath and Beyond but I could never justify paying the price they wanted for the one they sell. I ended up buying this shower chair after receiving an Amazon gift card as part of a wedding present we received, and got it st 20% off. I needed a place to either sit or put my foot on while shaving my legs in our tiled shower stall, as we don't have a bathtub, and trying to balance on one foot with my other leg hiked up on the one pony wall in our shower wasn't conducive to my safety. If anyone is going to slip and fall, I'm usually the chosen one. By the grace of all things Holy, I was able to avoid crashing in my shower for over a year prior to buying this little beauty to keep me a wee bit safer. My husband sweet husband is just as happy with my purchase because my legs are receiving attention from my razor more often now. He's a a TOTAL leg man, and consequently can't keep his hands off of mine! Although he never complained that my legs weren't always silky smooth, but now that they are, he gives me mad compliments daily! That's worth the $159 we spent, in and of itself! That, and the fact that he hasn't found me bawling my eyes out, in a soggy heap on the shower floor due to my uncanny clumsiness (thankfully, he thinks my clumsiness is cute). The item arrived fully assembled, it's sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. I chose this one party because it comes pre-assembled, and is built well. I figured if it was assembled at the factory, I wouldn't be bothered with having to periodically tighten screws that inevitably loosen in furniture you have to put together yourself & I didn't want to bother with gluing it. There may be cheaper ones available, but IMO, it's worth paying a little more for something I dont have to fuss with. That said, I couldn't be happier with my purchase! It's not only functional, but it looks a bazillion times better than a medical shower chair! If you're on the fence about purchasing one, don't hesitate. This is a pleasure to use and beautifully made. The bench is very study. I love that it comes fully assembled. We are not ordering another one for a different bath and likely to order a third just to have. It's very useful to have in bedroom to sit on to put on socks and shoes, etc.

I purchased this bench as a seat for a walk in shower to create a place to sit post knee replacement surgery. It did the trick. It is well built and water resistant (water beads up and suds rinse off easily) and looks nice. My only complaint is it slides on the tile floor but I fixed it by replacing the hard plastic glides with soft rubber glides. This chair was more expensive than several others that I looked at but it was highly rated and I’m glad I bought it. ... show more
