  • Very nice economical action camera
This product looks wonderful. So I ordered it. I received it and first thing I did was charge up the batteries. Once they were fully charged, then I powered on the camera. They took a couple minutes to get it to turn on. The buttons on this first unit didn't work well. None of the buttons work normally. After contacting the manufacturer, I got a call back from them that did not resolve the button issue. That's when I contacted Amazon customer service. They resolved the issue immediately, they replaced the camera. The replacement works like a dream. I downloaded the software. To use the manufacturer's software while being linked to the camera you have to take yourself off of your Wi-Fi and use the camera's Wi-Fi, and mobile data for your phone. When the cameras hooked up to your phone, you can't use the viewer on the camera. I purchased this particular model because it had a front facing display as well. This really makes taking selfies a breeze. It has an awesome mounting and accessories kit making it very portable. It uses *.mpg for video format of recording. This makes it quite compatible. It takes great quality video and stills. ... show more

  • Great Camera So Far
Great camera so far I’ve been using the AKASO Brave 7 LE 4K action camera and it has been great thus far. The picture quality is clear, the camera is easy to set up, and the WiFi features are convenient. For the price, it feels like a solid value compared to more expensive action cameras. I’m still testing all the features, but so far I’m happy with the purchase and would recommend it. ... show more

  • Some kinks but overall good
So, I've had the Akaso Brave 7 LE for a couple of days and am impressed with the quality when recording during the day and being outside. I will admit that the quality does goes down in darker areas. The face cam is also grainy. This is also in 4k btw. I have the settings turned up to the max and I do still experience low quality performance but I think it's good for the price. In the daylight, it's perfect and runs great! However, I have to be honest, so you know what to expect. The audio sound is VERY low. Even when turned up to the max. I actually had to purchase the Akaso mic to increase the quality but here is where I tell you that there are some audio issues. I have noticed that the sound completely cuts off during the last 10 seconds. I'm unsure why it happens but it does happen. Another thing to know is the video kind of cuts off here and there but it does continue to record. I haven't noticed if there was any gap between recordings but you should definitely be aware. The really good thing about this product is that it does come with a free 2 year warranty, so I believe it's worth a try to say the least. I gave this camera 4 stars because of the price and how easy it is to use. Any complications you experience, the company does give you a 30% discount off their website. Can't say anything about customer service but I will update on that section later. Overall, I think it's a good buy. I'm happy with it and it's easy to use. The price is definitely fair for an action camera of this quality. I just need to adapt. This is a good budget action camera and of course it'll have its issues. I think I'll be keeping this for a while. This has been my experience so far, so I hope you found this helpful. ... show more

  • Best Bang For Your Money
So I normally don't did reviews without giving items a legit run through. I am very impressed with this camera. Now the issues I have are not with the camera itself but the accessories. The only housing is the waterproof case and all after market housing are for the Brave 7 only. The generic mounts are mass produced plastic. I probably broke them the first month I had them. So if your expecting aluminum or a better polymer get ready to buy your own separately. BUT in all the camera is awesome, front screen is very helpful when you want to see the recording. I enjoy all the different settings and changes you can make to the quality of the images. It being waterproof did come in handy also when recording in the rain and did effects the video. Video sizes max to just over 4GB before starting a new video so just beware that when using 4k/2k you will have multiple videos to compress and sync together. I used the list camera well over a year, in the heat, rain, night, daytime. And it just performs. Awesome Camera. ... show more

  • GREAT CAMERA WITH FABULOUS ACCESSORIES OPTIONS GREAT CAMERA WITH FABULOUS ACCESSORIES OPTIONS
Akaso Brave 7LE As a professional architect, I have always needed site and existing condition information in developing projects. Over the years I have used SLR cameras and cell phone cameras and having to carry numerous measurement and drawing tools to get existing information. INow Ican use LiDAR scans and digital measurement tools to get accurate data, but the most important information is the subtle visuals that I can’t go back to double check on a unique item or condition. Photographs always seem to not be exactly pointed in the right direction, or didn’t get a specific issue cause of concept changes. Video provides a more detailed view of what is there, and can capture items that weren’t thought of as important during a on-site survey. In researching all the video cameras available, it was apparent that all cameras do not all have the features I wanted. The Brave 7 LE allowed me to get to a video camera that had the features I wanted at a fantastic price point, and with excellent quality output and ease of use,but even more appealing was the fantastic array of accessories available that allow me to use the camera the way I want. I have a monopole mount that allows steady movement and uniform height viewpoints, a small handheld tripod to allow setup on a surface and record client discussions and important design decisions. Saving the video files in the project directory allows effortlessly recall of forgotten content. The size and light weight makes data gathering easier and more accurate. The ability of the camera to update in connection with my iPhone app was an unexpected bonus. Some of the features that I was less than pleased with have been added and altered via online updates, great feature, and makes me feel this was a fabulous choice. My use so far has been beyond my initial goal. My daughter wants me to record important moments in my “life untold family history” . As II am not a great writer, I have decided to do a personal vlog on the camera to relate family moments that are long past. I think this is going to be a great way to address this task. ... show more

  • (almost) perfect for tennis videos
This action camera is almost perfect for capturing my tennis training and matches for technical analysis. I needed a camera that could record my gameplay from a high vantage point, and this one delivers exactly that. Why It Works So Well for Tennis Videos: The best part is that it comes with a standard 1/4-inch tripod screw mount, making it easy to attach to different setups. I built a hook on a monopod myself and simply hook the camera onto the top of the fence. It works flawlessly for this purpose. I previously tried using my consumer camcorder, but its lens wasn't wide enough to capture the entire court. This action camera, however, has a wide-angle lens that provides a full-court view when placed at the back fence. Even better, it includes a built-in distortion correction feature, which ensures that the court lines remain perfectly straight—something essential for proper analysis. Video Quality and Performance: The camera supports multiple video resolutions, including 4K, 2.7K, and 1080p (1920x1080). While the video quality is decent, it’s not as sharp as my digital camcorder or the latest smartphones. I found 1920x1080 to be the most practical setting for my needs. It can also capture up to 120fps, which is perfect for recording and analyzing slow-motion strokes. Why Not Just Use a Phone? In theory, a smartphone could do the job, but there are several drawbacks: I don't want to risk damaging my phone by mounting it on a fence. I often use my phone during training, so I can’t dedicate it solely to recording. A typical training session lasts about two hours, consuming tens of gigabytes of storage—far more than what my phone can easily handle. Phones work well for short clips, but for long, uninterrupted recordings, this action camera is a much better choice. How It Compares to a GoPro: A GoPro could certainly do this job, but this camera is cheaper and more compact while still having a built-in tripod mount. I just screw it onto my monopod, hook it on the fence, and start recording—simple and hassle-free. Battery Life & Other Considerations The battery lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours per charge. Any shaking in the video isn’t due to the camera itself but rather the fence moving when the ball hits it. Future Use: Mountain Biking I also plan to test this camera for mountain biking and will report back on how well it performs in that setting. Overall, if you're looking for an affordable, easy-to-mount action camera for recording long tennis sessions, this is a great option! Update Feb. 2025: after two years of over one hundred tennis videos , this camera still holds well. Some thought after the two year's use: 1. The battery still holds as about 2hours. Good thing is that the package comes with 2 batteries. For a longer match that extends beyond two hours, I have to switch a battery. 2. the 4K 30fps is useless for tennis videos. I need at least 60 fps for sure. So the maximum quality I can capture is 1920x1080 at 60fps. Tried 120fps but don't see visible difference. 3. Low light quality is not that good. I took some night play tennis. It is viewable quality but certainly not that good. I may consider buying a new action camera that supports 4K at 60fps and good in low light condition (because I play a lot tennis at night in summer). Not decided on which brand yet. ... show more

  • Good features. Great battery. Sharpness and FOV not quite there yet.
I really wanted to like this camera. I mean come on. $140 for a 4K camera with great battery life and many competitive features. I use my action cams mostly for recording longer motocross races. So I need decent resolution and long battery life. I don’t really care that much about image stabilization since I think it makes a very rough track and riding experience look like you’re skiing thru fresh powder. Just my opinion. The camera feels well built and the buttons work reasonably well. They all take a hard press and it’s a little hard to tell if you’ve actuated them correctly. The touchscreen is not up to current GoPro/DJI standards but is plenty usable. These are issues I easily look past considering the price point. The huge assortment of extra accessories is really nice to have and the 2 batteries plus separate charger is how every manufacturer should do it. The remote works quite good although I didn’t use it for what I was doing since battery life was more than adequate and I could just start recording at my truck, ride to the start line, do the race, and have plenty of battery life. The battery life seems very good. The races I run are around 60 min long by the time I”m finished. The battery was only about half used by then. Way better than my Hero4 Black cams. I’ve used GP Hero 4 (my personal cams), Hero 5/6/7, and DJI Osmo Action 2. The DJI Osmo is by far the best camera of them all in terms of functionality and ease of use. Also a great battery. Unfortunately for me I like a really wide angle for the races. The DJI is not wide enough. I really like GoPro’s Superview. That’s probably the biggest reason I won’t be keeping the Asako cam. Even on the widest setting (both at 1080 & 2.7K) it is much narrower than I want. Pretty much a deal killer for me. Secondly the quality of the footage (resolution and clarity) just seems lower than even my nearly 10 old Hero4 Blacks at the same resolution. I’m no video expert and it’s hard to put my finger on it but the footage just looks softer, like it’s slightly out of focus. I only shot in 1080 and 2.7K but comparing it under the same kind of shooting conditions just doesn’t give a good result. I recorded footage with the image stabilization both on and off. I think with it on it pulled the FOV in even tighter and it seemed to give it kind of a swimmy look. With it off it was better but then it also seemed more bouncy than my typical GP footage. But that’s hard to quantify. Last little nitpicks. The full enclosure case works fine but is pretty bulky. A skeleton style case would be a nice option that I would gladly pay extra for, just to get the cam closer to my helmet. Lastly the camera exports the video files in MOV format (GoPro exports MP4s). I didn’t even realize this until my edit software OpenShot had issues importing MOV files where it cuts off the last bit of each file. Not the fault of the Asako cam but it seems from reading around that maybe MOV files are a little more difficult to deal with. Anyhow that was an issue as well. I would have had to buy an MOV to MP4 converter software since the free versions handle only 1-2 GB files which are much smaller than what these cams export. I didn’t see a place to change the export format but maybe I missed it. The Asako app is nothing to write home about but it does serve the basic function of getting the camera aimed and you can do rudimentary review of your footage. Again, just fine at this price point. So I sent this Asako action cam back for a refund. But for me; if they made a real “superview” wide angle and got the quality of the footage sharper I would buy this action cam again immediately. New GoPros for $400+ with all of their own crazy faults that they seem to cycle thru as they release new versions is just a ridiculous proposition. Thanks Asako for making this budget contender! Just a few improvements and I’ll be 1st in line to buy again. ... show more
