This review is for the AITREASURE Small Boat Anchor Kit Folding Grapnel Anchor Carbon Steel for Kayak, Canoe, Jet Ski with 32.8 ft Anchor Tow Rope Carrying Bag, under $25. It begs 5 stars for cuteness alone. (I’m accustomed to much beefier cruising sailboat rigs.) It was well-packaged, materials are of good quality, and it has good directions for setting up a break-away system. The only item not included is a cheap, small zip tie (see photos, top of anchor—the yellow plastic knife is for scale🙂). I’m not sure how it works for river fishing on a kayak, but for bigger boats, the rule of thumb is 5 to 7 feet of anchor rode length for each foot of water depth under your boat (plus freeboard, the height of your deck above water). So if your anchor line is attached to your kayak a foot above the waterline and the water is 4 feet deep, you’d need 5x5=25 (or 5x7=35 to play it safer) feet of rode. If you’re at 2 feet in a river for 3 feet total, you’d need 15 (or 21) feet. Maybe you experienced kayakers can report how a strong current affects scope. Plus maybe there are trees, boulders, etc. to complicate matters. Of course, no real worries, you’ll always be in the boat while anchored, ready to respond to dragging or breaking free. Overthinking is a bad habit- I can’t wait to get some experience! I’m pleased with this system as a start. I’ll add some chain between the anchor and the line (flattens the rode for better holding, hopefully not increasing a snag factor), and I’ll keep some extra line handy to add to the snap hook end for stopping to fish at greater lake depths. Not sure if there should be knots at the float, and in any case, I’d add a stop knot or zipties a foot below the bitter end so the float can’t come off if I have to cut the rode at the kayak. (Worst case scenarios galore!😵💫) Maybe a carabiner with an eyelet for the bitter end of the line, too, since my clumsy fingers could pop off the line when clipping it to the kayak. I’m going to make a milk crate kayak fishing cart and diagonally attach a pvc tube with a drain cap at the bottom to stuff the anchor system into, per a hundred diy videos on YouTube. (Another reviewer said this anchor is small enough to put in a fishing rod holder.) I’ll amend this review if 1.5 pounds is not heavy enough or if there are problems during actual use, but so far, so good, especially price-wise. ... show more

Overall the product is good and has been effective. The carrying bag will rip the first chance it gets and is flimsy. Not to deter a purchase but don’t let a carrying bag included make your decision haha.
