  • Durable tube, but small and easily goes underwater
it’s a nice tube most of the time, however kept getting dragged under water and we felt it was unsafe and stopped using.

  • Good value for the price
This is a good value for a water tube.

  • Great 2 person tube for $100!! Plum Crazy Purple! Bonus!!
I tend to buy items way in advance of their use. This tube is no different. At just a touch over $100, how could anyone go wrong. It is a really well made product. The first thing I did was air it up to make sure there were no holes. The next thing I did was text pictures to all of my soon-to-be-jealous tubin buddies. Some razzed me about having a purple tube, but it's my favorite color. I doubt they will remember the color this season when we are tearing up the lake. I will more than likely up grade to 5 stars after I have had a chance to use it. From what I've read, they tend to submarine quite a bit, so we'll need to relearn our take off technique. Can't wait!!!! Update: Started the season on April 18, 2015. Cold, but who cares. The tube does submarine if you aren't back on takeoff. Bad in 61 degree water, ask me. It is now July 3, 2015 and the tube just split a seam and went down half way around the lake. We are hard on our tubes and have gone thru 3 other bladders on other tubes. Two things I love about the tube: 1) on takeoff if you lightly lean on the front edge as you plane out, you will SOAK the person on that side! 2) When sliding out on a whip if you lean on the outside edge, it applies the brakes and lets the guy next to you fly right over the top of you and out the other side. Guess one season out of this tube is not gonna happen. Down to 3 stars for durability. We just joked that the Airheads were more durable than the others. Not laughing now. ... show more

  • So far so good.
Used it for half a season now and have had no issues. Key factors are not to leave it in the hot sun don't yank it when you start to tow someone, first take up the slack and then speed up. Don't go to fast, 30 mph is really fast when being towed We store ours in the garage when we don't use and it stays inflated in the garage as well. I also always check the tube for proper inflation before each use ... show more

  • 2010 Great tube for the money EDIT 2022 These have changed for the worse
2010 Just purchased 2 "Big Slice" tubes to replace 2 identical tubes we have had for a few years. I've purchased dozens of tubes over the years and these have been my favorite. Minus one star for long term durability. Pros: 1) Nice soft handles with neoprene to protect your knuckles. 2) Neoprene pad for your knees. EDIT 2022 Neoprene pad is smaller now. 3) Fully covered with few seams to catch on and hurt yourself (unlike open donut style tubes). 4) Nice screw on, quick fill, "Boston" valve. EDIT 2022 bladder no longer has a threaded valve. The new style just pushes in, I prefer the old style threaded type. 5) Thicker in front, thinner in the rear for easy boarding. EDIT 2022 The new bladder is of lower volume. The kid's couldn't get started no matter how far back they got. Should be fine for adults. The kids did fine on the previous versions, it is just this new version that holds less air, so much so the skin is loose. I don't know, maybe they will stretch into shape but for now they are worthless for the smaller kids. 6) Special hook makes it easy to hook to a rope. 7) Price is reasonable. Cons: 1) They don't last forever, maybe 3-5 years. This is fine with me considering the abuse they suffer. 2) There is no neoprene where your elbows hit. The canvas is fairly soft so this is not a big deal to me. 3) The webbing where the rope hooks up could be more durable. I reinforced mine so this never became an issue. EDIT 2022 The webbing is plenty strong enough stock. Notes: 1) If your kids are sinking this tube it is because they are riding too far forward, not because of where the rope hooks up. Have em lean back till the tube planes out. (See also #4) EDIT 2022 Our kids had no trouble with the old version of this tube once they learned to lean back at the start, however none of them can ride the new version because it holds less air. 2) The handles are important. I've had tubes with hard plastic handles (no good), and really durable coarse fabric handles which were too rough on your knuckles (no good). The handles on this tube are a nice compromise between comfort and durability. 3) The Boston valve is the best. Quick to inflate, quick to deflate, and secure. Our Walmart tubes have press in valves that pop loose and then the tube goes flat. One of my old tubes uses a car type Schrader valve which takes forever to pump up. Boston is the way to go. EDIT 2022 Slice no longer comes with a Boston value. 4) The Big Slice is for going fast with adults or big kids. Small kids might prefer the open style tubes they can climb down inside and maintain a low center of gravity. Smaller kids can successfully ride fully covered tubes but the open style tubes are easier for the little ones. 5) The Slice sits low in the water and is not bouncy like taller tubes. The Slice is like a sports car while the taller bouncy tubes are like top heavy 4 wheel drive trucks. 6) I've got other tubes but never ride them anymore because I prefer the Big Slice. Reducing rating from 4 to 2 stars because the updated 2022 version has a smaller bladder, a cheaper valve and a smaller section of Neoprene. Will be looking for a new tube for the kids. If you have all adults ... show more

  • Perfect for our 18 foot boat - not too big ...
Perfect for our 18 foot boat - not too big to carry around in the boat but so much fun for the family. We have used it all summer and usually have 2 people - child and adult - and no issues at all. You need to buy a rope with pulls on each end - without the handle - but other than that we have nothing but good things to say. All tubes can sink in the front if you stay at the front when the boat slows down. This is not been an issue at all - when we stop or slow down just scoot back a little. Mine love it when it does that though! Pops right back out of the water but not an issue pulling at all! ... show more

  • worth all of the bruises
The kids loved it and so did all of the adults. The ride was great and worth all of the bruises. I had not been on one since I was a kid and did not remember all of the beatings that you take on one of these. Easy to forget the bad part when your a kid. LOL... I purchased this to get more use out of my fishing/sport boat. This tube is just the right size for an adult with a kid and is very easy to get on with its slim back end. The only issue that I has was its tendency to go under when you start off too slowly. This could be due to how low the back of my boat is before it gets on plane. Once you are up to speed it is a great ride. I plan to use it as much as possible in the future. ... show more

  • Easy to tow
Inner tube was hard to get valve at outer tubes opening. Wish it was a little bigger tube. Ok for kids little small for more than one adult
