Air compressor works good and there was no leaks. It’s definitely portable. Very easy to move around. But it was louder than expected. Measuring with my phone app, the motor runs at 57 db when the tank is empty, but it gradually increases as the tank fills up. At max, it was 70 db (also 70 db when the compressor maintains the PSI during usage). Other than that, i noticed that one of the fan cover screws were shorter than the other 3 and come loose during shipping. Thankfully, it was still usable and i could still secure it in. Edit: I previously measured the noise level within my bedroom (10’ x 10’). When I close my door and measure from outside my door, it was around 47db. Now if i go into an adjacent and close the door of that room, i can barely hear it. When I move the compressor to my living room (~4x larger) and measure within the same room, it was measuring around 60db. All in all, I’m not worried about the noise anymore ... show more

My first compressor, and I'll be damned if it isn't my last. I did a lot of comparing (based on looks and specs alone) to one of the "No-Name Brand" compressors on Spraygunners.com and I'm convinced that this is the exact same one at a much more approachable price. From what I've read/watched, nearly every single-piston compressor is exactly the same with a few "goodies" (a tank, a cooling fan or 2, etc.) so the purchasing choice was pretty obvious. Can't speak to the accuracy of the decibel level, but my roommate (whose room is about 3' across the hall) says it just sounds like white noise to him when my door is closed and his is slightly cracked. So that's a winner in my book. I took off a star in the "for beginners" category because it would've been nice to have a hose and/or airbrush holder included in the spirit of convenience and packaging. Not a dealbreaker by any means though. ... show more

I purchased this compressor to replace a tankless version I'd purchased from another vendor in an economy airbrush kit (which had broken during the 3rd use). I was a little concerned after reading the reviews stating that the compressor runs very loud, as I knew I couldn't use it in my studio with sawdust present. I was pleasantly surprised when I hooked it up in my living room and turned it on. Without a decibal gauge, I can say that it's actually much quieter than the small compressor I use to inflate an air bed! The 3 liter storage tank is perfect for airbrushing models & small pieces, preventing air pulses I experienced with the tankless version. I ran the unit for a couple of hours yesterday & was concerned about overheating, so I touched the metal compressor casing and it was still cool to the touch. I'm very happy with my purchase, and the only caveat I would have liked would be an airbrush holder for when I'm cleaning up my area after painting or between projects (sliding it into the handle works, but can fall easily). But due to the difference in quality from my previous purchase I'm still giving it 5 stars! I definitely recommend this purchase & will be ordering from Timbertech again in the future! ... show more
