Do I recommend this AiJoy Electronic Drum Set for about 300 bucks? Yes I do, especially for beginners or casual players who want a solid introduction to drumming without spending a fortune. Full disclosure: I know nothing about playing the drums or any instrument. I got this kit to learn, and it comes with nearly everything a beginner could need, including a stool, drumsticks, and wired headphones. Speaking of, the headphones impressed me more than expected. They look and feel cheap, but the sound quality is surprisingly good. Setup took me about 45 minutes by myself. The frame is sturdy tube steel, and everything fits together well. Just make sure you tighten the screws enough to prevent parts from twisting. All the cables and components are clearly labeled, and the instructions are easy to follow. The full setup takes up a bit under five square feet, so it should fit comfortably in most homes. Performance-wise, this kit exceeded my expectations in many ways but fell short in others. The drums sound great through the included headphones, and there are plenty of modes and sound settings to play with. The control module also includes a USB-B port (printer cable) for MIDI output (but does not include the cable), which is nice if you plan to use it with recording software or even rhythm games such as Clone Hero. It's also fully compatible with Melodics if you want to actually learn drums. Again, this set doesn't include that cable so if you want one, you need to get one or borrow it from your printer. Where it falls short is how everything attaches together and the height, especially of the snare drum. The clamps seem like they work just fine until you start playing. I found I had to readjust and re-tighten the clamp screws while I was playing them. Make sure you keep the included screw key attached to your set because you will need this as you're using the set. In terms of height, it's mostly the snare drum (center drum) that feels a bit too low, even when at the highest setting. I'm 5'5 and I felt like my leg keeps getting in in the way. In terms of noise, the drum pads themselves make some sound when struck, even with the silicone tip covers on the sticks, so people nearby will hear you tapping away even if they can’t hear the music. The kit doesn’t have built-in speakers, so you’ll need headphones or an external amp if you want others to hear the drum music. One thing I wish it had is Bluetooth headphone support because the wired headphone cable feels too short and gets in the way. While this should support an aux-to-Bluetooth adapter, it’s 2025 so Bluetooth should really be built in. All things considered, this is a solid electronic drum kit that’s great for beginners and even experienced drummers looking for an affordable practice setup. ... show more

Great starter or midi kit. The dogs barked at it when we put it together but slept right through the first drum session since you hear nothing from the actual playing unless you have the output connected. (If you watch our video you will also not hear anything because we have it plugged into headphones). We are a little new to percussion and have wanted a kit to expand on our foundation with hand percussion, and this is a great segue. It is going to take you a couple of hours to put the kit together. The bolt tightener tool is in the accessories box. Basically follow the instructions. Each part has a tag with its name on it and each cord does also so once it is time to plug everything in it goes pretty fast. You are going to need a corner or part of a room for the kit. The rack is decently sturdy and adjustable but light enough you can move it out of the way when you are done. It has Midi out so you can connect it to your DAW. Also a main 1/4" jack output (mono). Lots of different kits and presets. It is just so much better than hammering out drum beats on a Midi keyboard. Yes it says beginner but if digital music is your thing you can generate your beats on this kit. Love it. PS it comes with headphones which are totally adequate but we used our own. Use the phone jack out for "stereo" that is just a 50/50 blend from the input. Enjoy! ... show more

This set feels like the grown-up version of banging on pots and pans - only quieter, smarter, and way more fun. The mesh pads have a great bounce. The snare responds with that dual-zone sensitivity. And the cymbals don’t feel like toys. Plugging into the module unlocks a huge amount of sounds and kits, which makes it easy to go from casual practice to a full jam session without changing anything but a button. It’s compact enough to fit in a corner, but still feels like a real kit when you’re behind it. I'll begin by first commenting how well packed this drum set is. Everything is all packed in little little boxes making it very portable to move around so this was super impressive. So in terms of the setup of the drums, it was a little bit complicated to get this set up properly. It took me over 3 hours to get this done. This was my first time setting up a drum set but everything seems to work properly. The fact that in my practice I can do that without the drum sounding is a plus so I don't drive neighbors crazy or I know my neighbors without knowing too much about drums. I think this set is good for Elena. Like my self and and my instructor told me it's a good drum set and I'm glad I got these. In terms of the price, this seems really expensive. I don't know how much other drum sets cost, but for me, as a learning drum set like this for me, I thought the price was a little bit too high. ... show more
