  • Should get the job done
Style: Aerator
I am an intermediate DIY'r and this thing took about 1 1/2 hours to assemble with a bunch of different ratchets and wrenches and a few extenders. If you have those tools, you should have no problems. I recommend you get the Agri Fab assembly video off of Y outube and sit on the floor assembling while watching the video on a laptop, worked well. When the instructions tell you not to tighten a bolt, don't do it or you'll have to undo it several steps down the road. When you get to the end where you are bolting on the engagement handle and adjusting it, it will be an ah hah moment why you left the bolts loose. You wiggle around the top table and supports to get a good fit and engagement for the handle and then tighten the specified bolts. I went to home depot and got (3) 16" x 12" x 8" cinder blocks for weight, they fit nicely. I pulled the aerator around with a John Deere S120 and was getting about 1 1/2" plugs. The ground was firm so I might aerate the afternoon after it rains?? I think it will get deeper when the ground is softer. Overall, I'm happy. ... show more

  • Great investment!!
Style: Aerator
I looked into renting an aerator for the day . Home Depot wanted $ 80 and change for 4 hours in my area..Plus the driving back n forth with gas at $20 bucks a gallon thanks to you know who .It wasn't worth it..So I looked at the reviews and picked this one . I have an acre of land . With some power tools I had the unit together in an hour . Was super easy and great instructions. We did just have 2 days of rain so I was anxious to see how it did ..Well ..with only 3 cinder blocks on it..it was amazing !!! It had no problem digging in the 3" it calls for and spitting those plugs out all over the yard .Truth be known I was having a blast driving around puncturing holes everywhere ...I will admit , I did do a little PM work on the blades . The factory only places 2 not so great welds on the spindles , so yes I did throw a little extra weld on the spindles just to be sure ...but this unit is perfect for the average home owner .. I attached a few pics just to show how well it does .. ... show more

  • Decent for the price.
Style: Aerator
This took a couple hours to assemble but wasn’t too complex. No major problems except one of the wheel arms wasn’t welded quite right so I had to drill the hole out slightly. Used it once already and it doesn’t seem to go as deep as I would like and the holes are sometimes more like tears, but I also used it right after a heavy rain and have clay soil. Probably should have waited until it dried up a bit as my mower had some difficulty pulling this if I went too slow up grade. Regardless I would recommend it given the price. We will see if the aeration depth will help my soils any though. ... show more

  • lawn aerator
Style: Aerator
Update: We contacted the company directly about the missing bolts, they sent them to us within a few days. We have finished assembly, and look forward to using on our acre. Missing 6 3/8 - 16 x 1" hex bolts, all other parts were included in shipment. Quality control needs to make sure all parts are included before shipment. Tray scratches easy, thought it would be better for the cost. As soon as we purchase more bolts and finish assembly, we will try it out. ... show more

  • An absolute pain in the ___ to assemble.
Style: Aerator
The manufacturer label/emblem kind of said it all with it’s foreshadowing. First off, make sure you have a decent tool set. I consider myself to be mechanically inclined. I’m 42 years old I’m a ASE master technician and a Toyota master technician. I thought it would take an hour, maybe an hour and a half to put this thing together. It took almost 3… My irritation started when they shorted me a nut for the carriage bolts, which I had to purchase later at a hardware store. There are bolts that are instructed to be inserted and tighten that fasten nothing. A bolt that has to be substituted for a shorter bolt in order to be able to fit between one of the inner spools and the lift handle, to secure the lift handle to the inner wheel bracket. I had remove the lift handle after installing it and place it in a vice to bend it because it was dangerously close to slipping out of the recess notch which locks the wheels in the down position. Four extra washers that are not stated to be installed anywhere in the instructions.. and then I had to sharpen the blades after dulling them on my garage floor while wrestling with this thing during assembly. All in all it seems like a decent product but you will need to bring your tools including sockets larger than you may have at your home and you will definitely need to bring your patience. Some modifications may be required as well as purchasing parts that maybe missing and scratching your head with parts you have left over. ... show more

  • Quality product, but a bear to assemble...
Style: Aerator
Quality product but a little difficult to assemble and I would consider myself fairly good at doing these sorts of things. Give yourself some time- it took me 3 hours. I found it helpful to view the YouTube video. I also recommend unpacking everything and laying out all the screws by height (as they are- in the less than helpful instructions and by diagram). You can also confirm by counting and comparing that all necessary bolts, screws, and washers are included and accounted for. (Mine were). As others have stated, be very careful as the aerator spikes are VERY sharp and despite being careful I still ended up with some pretty nicked up hands and fingers... After following the -and again --"less than helpful instruction sheet" And following them to a T -I somehow ended up putting the wheel assembly on upside down on the axel which of course would not allow for the product to be wheeled around without the spikes tearing up everything. After finally figuring out my error even though I followed the instructions as written it was a quick fix and I finally finished putting the darn thing together and it is a very high quality product now. Oh, and one other little fun fact you might want to know about before you assemble it- the tires come or at least mine did uninflated. They need to be filled to 30 PSI ... show more
