I was hoping for a nice upgrade to the 20-year-old bench I have been using. Unfortunately, I purchased this with 3 ratings (2-5 stars, 1-1 star) which I never have done until now. Mistake! The good: it was delivered on time; the packaging was well done; all parts were in good shape and solid. The bad: no instructions which was not really a problem. Easy enough to put together looking at the photos; the bench pad is too short, your head is almost off the pad when you are bench pressing. The photos show the guy's head has plenty of support... not so for me. And way too short even to consider any kind of situps. The support stands that hold the weight bar are too far apart for me. I can only do wide bench presses. I would not recommend this bench. Look for a bench that has far more rating than this one. The more ratings the better you are informed. ... show more

Why is it so shaky while doing dips ? The bolts have plastic on the edge which doesn't let me tighten it fully. It should be tight . How to make it more stable ?

Instructions for the assembly are acquired through a link on this page (Amazon's product page) called "Installation Manual (PDF)." The instructions are decent but could be a little more clear on how to orient the components - I switched the left and the right columns, making the large screw's knob go on the inside rather than the outside (so I needed to swap them). The gauge of the steel could be a little thicker. I say this since tightening the nuts cause the pipe to dent, and it would not be desirable to have the bolts loosen up and have the bench wobble as a result. This happened even with the added plates. None the less, the bench appears designed in such a way that I am not worried about the barbell crunching the posts since the weight is directly on top rather than hanging from a tab that is on the side of the post - this bench uses the safer method. The padding is appropriate and comfy. My only complaint is that the leg at the end under the bench where you lie down requires you to fully extend it, otherwise the bench's posts get pushed backward, tilting away from you, but no longer vertical (the desired and stable position). MAKE SURE THE EXTENSION AT YOUR FEET IS EXTENDED FULLY! ... show more
