I've had this for a couple of months but I wanted to really work before I reviewed it. First of all I'm pretty thrilled. It took a little adjusting but when I got the mic and magnetic pickups balanced it sounded great. I have the pickup in a Gibson J50 that I hadn't used out because it didn't have electronics. I love the acoustic sound of the guitar and the neck is butter. I really wanted to get it out and thought I'd try an inexpensive rig just to see. I'm glad I did. While everything balanced well practicing this combo really shines through a larger system. A couple of small gigs and then I was lucky enough to open for a couple of regional bands and got to play through some pretty substantial systems. Zero hum. That thrilled me. Just backing off the mic a little and no feedback. It really brings out that distinctive hog sound of the Gibson. I had a couple of sound guys checking out the pickup after sound checks just to see it. There are a couple of downsides though. There is no way to disconnect the pickup from the input so you have to remove the wire as well which I'm sure is hard on the connection. This is preventing a permanent install. I love that it's rechargeable but it has a micro usb port instead of usb-c. All in all I love this. ... show more

For under $50 it was worth it to put in my 38 year old Yamaha for picnics and open Mike. Does it sound as good as Breedlove Northwest with a LR Baggs system? Not even close the pickup itself can be dialed in with some eq. However, IMHO the built in microphone is virtually useless.

This pickup is definitely worth the price. I have a Martin 0018 and did not want to make any modifications. The wireless works great. The volume for the pick -up is actually the master volume. If you use the pick- up and mic you need to use both volume controls. The mic is good for those of you who knock on your guitar. It is made sturdy, easy to install, long cord to charge it. I am now able to use my guitar with an affects pedal, amp and looper. Well worth the price. ... show more

I come from an audio engineering background (I hate the sound of a piezo pickup lol and I LOVE the sound of a nice acoustic guitar with an excellent condenser or ribbon mic paired with a good preamp...) Pros -Sounds really good, pretty much as is. (I found turning the Treble and Bass all the way down and using EQ in my pedal to adjust). I find EQ and reverb to make it sound really quite good. -It sounds like a magnetic pickup, but when you mix in the built in mic, it really gives you more depth and dimension. (watch out for feedback if you have a loud stage when the mic is on) -Volume and mic control are pretty easy to use -Charging is great, it seems to have a good battery life and easy to plugin. Nice that you don't have to change batteries. -Temporary installation is amazingly easy. -Price is great -Sounds great in the studio Cons -Treble and bass EQ require a screwdriver to adjust, so nothing on the fly. -This is only speculation.....The cork that holds the pickup in place seems like it will break down over time, especially if I had to install and uninstall again and again. -Feedback, but any soundhole, even Fishman will have the same issues. This pickup makes my 12 string sing. It replaced a 44 year old pickup that gave up the ghost. I wasn't expecting such clarity and tone and I'm pleasantly pleased.

I was originally happy with the pickup and it's variety of features but after I did the full install, the mic portion stopped working. Nothing I did should have damaged it. I did a lot of trouble shooting but still nothing from the mic. It's going to be a real pain to have to get the strings out of the way again and do the full uninstall / reinstall. I'm still giving four stars because it's nice otherwise. I just hope there aren't build quality issues leading to future failures. Fingers crossed. Now that it failed I tried adjusting the bass and treble and the resulting sound from the magnetic pickup got even better! Adding bass made it sound more like an acoustic, and toning down the treble a little got rid of that overly treble electric acoustic guitar sound. Nice. ... show more

This pick up is really well designed. The installation set up is superb for a soundhole pick up. The combination pick up and onboard mic, combined with a nice selection of volume and tonal controls, make it very versatile. The usb charging is fantastic! No more clunky 9v batteries inside the guitar. This is a 1st class piece of gear. Even the packaging is 1st class. Well worth the proce tag.
