This is a great shock for the money. My Tahoe has 4wd and the trailering package, but no air suspension or stability control, or any other electronically controlled suspension. The old shocks were a mess. This are a delight. super soft compression, and rebound is very controlled. these are smaller diameter compared to the factory shocks, but i didn't feel like spending $400 for those. These give a nice smooth ride. it wallows a bit, but the rest of the suspension isn't brand new, so im sure some bushings need replacing. overall, these are a good option if you don't want the bumps to rattle your teeth out! ... show more

I should have got these 2 years ago, my Suburban was lofting pretty bad over bumps and the rear would wobble left/right pretty bad if you'd hit a deep bump around a corner. They seem well matched to the stock spring rates, despite having the red originals. Have not installed the fronts yet but even just changing the rears was a big improvement. The bushings are a little bit narrower than the originals, I have maybe a 1/8" gap on each side but I don't think its going to be a problem. If you're bothered by that sort of thing some washers will take care of it no problem. Might vary by application but to get them on/off I used a 21MM deep well and a standard 21mm socket, though a wrench would have been better than a ratchet/socket for space. No problem breaking the bolts loose with a 1/2" impact, made it easy, might be hard by hand. About 5-10 minutes per side to install crawling on my back without taking the tires off. You will want a big flathead screwdriver or pry bar to push them into place to get the 2nd bolt in because of the gas pressure. ... show more

    • Total junk , wouldn't run em again if they paid me
2004 suburban .Absolutely loved the ride, for the first 5 weeks . with fewer than 200 miles they started making noise and riding like garage , worse than the 15 year old 180,000 mile factory shocks ever did .As a matter of fact, the stock ride control units were actually still surprisingly good , all things considered. Would rather pull those out of my junk pile and put em back on . But some reviews would say I installed incorrect . Ok sure buddy . 2 bolts and I did em wrong , I bet . If they had luck with them , God bless . As for me and the fact that have always done my own maintenance and mechanical work and have had plenty of experience working on trucks both privately and commercially. I did wonder to myself as I opened the box "huh, these seem much smaller in diameter than the factory shocks" but I convinced myself that shock technology must have just made some pretty big advancements in the last decade and a half . Silly me. These things are approximately half the diameter. again they felt awesome in my old but very nice and well maintained truck FOR 5 WEEKS . There is no possible way to install them wrong as the top rated reviewer would suggest , they are simply junk . If you're selling your truck and just want the cheapest possible shocks and don't care if they don't last , then sure I guess buy em ... show more

If you don't pull or haul heavy loads, these may not be your cup of tea. w/o a load, I feel every bump in the road. Mounted on 2005 Tahoe, 4.8l. Definitely no shake/wobble, etc. Doesn't hardly move when I step on the rear bumper (and I weigh 300 lbs.)

Installed on a 2004 Avalanche. Took the bounce out of the bungee. Honestly, that truck felt like a trampoline had replaced the shocks on the rear axle. It's a sweet ride again.
