  • Perfect 145A upgrade from the CS130D 105A unit in 4.3L V6 equipped GM vehicles!
This alternator is very high quality, and is a great upgrade for any GM truck equipped with a 4.3L V6 and 105A OEM alternator. With the 145A rating, and great output at idle compared to the OEM CS130D design, it's a no brainer. Just keep in mind, when installing this unit in a 4.3L application, it will require a 1" longer belt. Here is my personal experience with this Alternator, and the vehicle I used it in: I bought a 2001 Chevy Blazer Xtreme with a 4.3 V6 a few months ago, and the wife has been driving it to work. Wednesday night, she calls and says that it's dead. Long story short, I had it towed to the house (this all happened around midnight), alternator is dead and battery is at about 9v. Charged the battery and started looking for alternators. The local parts stores were overpriced for no name Chinese crap that was all reman. I was going to replace it with the original 105A unit, but figured if I'm going to spend the time and money, I might as well get an upgrade from the OE part. After a little research, I found this one on Amazon, as well as the belt I needed, and it was delivered the same day with Amazon's awesome free Prime same day shipping. From the time of the failure, to the time of repair, it was about 18 hours. Can't beat it! This alternator ended up being the perfect replacement. Did a little Google research, and found that the AD244 design is a great upgrade from the CS130D design with much more power (this one is 145A), and it drops right in. This alternator is actually very underrated, and is capable of putting out 200A AT IDLE when cold!! Even buying an overpriced modded CS130D high output unit many times will only put out 45A at idle, and needs to be revved to 1000rpm to reach anywhere near the rated output. Installing this alternator into a GM 4.3L V6 requires a 96" belt rather than the original size 95" due to the slightly larger size of this alternator compared to the stock one, and I was able to find one of those here with one day free prime delivery as well. Replacement took about 15 minutes, only had to remove the 4 pin connector, the single terminal charging cable from the rear stud on the alternator, the rear bolt holding the heater hose bracket, and the two alternator mounting bolts. Pried out the old one, lightly tapped the spacer sleeves out a bit, and the new one dropped right in. You can tell that this unit is slightly larger than the old one, but it fits perfectly, and there are zero fitment issues other than using a different belt. Re-installed the connector and cable, installed the new belt, and it was good to go. This unit charges at 14.5v both at idle and off idle, which is much better than the 13.8v that the old alternator charged at. With the A/C, wipers, blower, head and fog lamps on, the voltage did not drop at all, maintaining the 14.5v at idle. I very highly recommend this unit as an upgrade, or replacement for a failed alternator in a vehicle already equipped with the same part. Using a brand new ACDelco part, especially with free same day Prime shipping, is much better than overpaying for a Chinese reman in my opinion. ... show more

  • Saved my bacon!
228000+ miles on the original for my 2000 Tahoe, alas she could not hold out any longer and finally bit the big one. Ordered this with Amazon prime same day delivery. I had to pry the original Alt out and "persuade" the new one in. Very happy with the new alternator. Both interior and exterior lights are so much brighter now and my gauges have even settled down (some had a random twitch that always bugged me!) I was not ready to buy a new one just yet but it had to be done. Alt stopped charging this morning and had to catch a ride to work. I ordered with same day delivery and just met the delivery guy when I was dropped off from work. Worked out great! ... show more

  • Fits my 2002 Chevrolet Silverado LS 4.3L V6 Fits my 2002 Chevrolet Silverado LS 4.3L V6
Perfect upgrade for 02 Silverado with the 4.3L V6. Went from the smaller 105 amp alternator to this 145 amp alternator. Everything fits well with no modifications needed. Just need a longer belt if doing the upgrade. I used an ac delco belt 6K960 and it fit perfect. No more dimming headlights at stop lights. With the blower at full blast and headlights on, this alternator keeps voltage at 14.5 volts. The only bad thing is that it’s made in china. Ac Delco warranties it’s products for two years, hopefully it last as long as the original. ... show more

  • Well...the jury is still out
Bought this as an emergency replacement for my 2000 Chevy Blazer LT 4X4 and it shipped very quickly using the PRIME option. Over sized compared to the OEM unit so a 96 inch serpentine belt is required over the standard 95 inch. Plenty of power...everything lights up nicely without that annoying gauge "bounce" that you see when things tend to get over loaded. One flaw I have noticed thus far (2 weeks post install) is that from time to time there seems to be a slight "whirring" noise emitting now...not quite sure if it is the new alternator...or if in fact it may be another pulley. Perhaps it just needs "break in" time. UPDATE January 21, 2014. So the "whirring" noise is still there. Usually happens when throttling up...goes back down when letting off the accelerator. Will do it intermittently so really haven't figured out what the deal is. Won't make the noise during idle...seems the vehicle has to be under load (driving). Gonna replace the belt tensioner and idle bearing pulley just to help compliment the full change out. If this doesn't work...gonna have to return the alternator for a new one. ... show more

  • Product okay - Warranty process WAS VERY PAINFUL
The Alternator was a good fit and worked fine for nearly 2 years. We had issues with the internal regulator with voltage fluctuations and after going through troubleshooting and testing found it to be an alternator that is covered by AC Delco's Lifetime Warranty, as stated on the Amazon product page. I called the AC Delco number provided and their customer service directed me back to Amazon, as the warranty needs to be processed through their retailer (Amazon). This is fairly common in the Automotive world as programs and agreements between a manufacturer and distributor or large retailer will include additional discounts for potential defects, etc. After waiting for a while for the Amazon customer service agent to simply find my transaction he informed me that they did not cover the warranty and it would have to go to AC Delco and that this was the case for ALL manufacturers regardless of what the item was. He proceeded to give me examples of buying an item from Sony at Walmart.......... At this point my frustration level is growing as Amazon posts on their site. "Automotive Items: If you've purchased a defective automotive items, shipped from and sold by Amazon.com, that is covered by a published manufacturer warranty, Amazon honors the warranty. Amazon will either replace the item or refund the cost of the item for the life of the published warranty." Unit I told the supervisor this I was being told that I was wrong and that they didnt cover the warranty. After I read this statement from THEIR WEBSITE she informed me that she would have to call AC Delco. And here is where we are... I am nearing 30 minutes into this call and regretting purchases I've made from Amazon that I thought would be covered. Moving forward, items that need to be covered or I want to be covered will be purchased by a brick and mortar parts store in this category. (I did try to find local before I ordered it originally and it was 7-10 days out vs. the next day and didn't have the time to wait... at that time) Listen, I know I messed up by using Amazon and wont make the same mistake again as they are too big for their own good at this point. The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. If you are working on your GM vehicle and you can wait to order from a local parts store, do it. Any money I might have saved in the initial purchase is now upside down in the time Amazon is taking for what should be an easy process. I do like AC Delco parts and will continue to buy them, but not from here. ... show more

  • Perfect for a LB7 Duramax
Everything good! I installed on a 2002 Chevy 2500hd 6.6 Duramax. Took about 10 minutes. Previous alternator ordered was not the correct one, positive power bolt was not in the same location and interfered with fuel hose. Anyway, voltage was tested at 14.7, could be my cheapo meter, however all good for my 2 batteries. Prices are all over the place, this says AC Delco, which replaces a Delphi (guessing original equipment). I've had this truck since 2006, this is the first replacement under my ownership. The old one was working find, just pro-active maintenance. ... show more
