so this nice little revo rocket does the trick for me.from the shore i use 30 lb braid to mono and it can handle more but a baby winch to say the least its a beast.

Let me start by saying this is one of nine Abu Garcia reels that I own, from MGX, Premier, STX, SX Spinning, and a Winch and now the ROCKET!! This is by far the fastest reel I have ever used and the breaking system is also very good, along with the longer carbon fiber handle this thing is very comfortable in the hand. I use mine on a St Croix Mojo Bass "jerkbait-topwater" rod and love the way this reel has made both my topwater walking the dog action as well as my jerkbait action so much better. I believe I'm getting more reaction strikes with the speed this reel picks up line and I know I'm covering more water faster. I'm planning on getting another for my buzz bait and spinnerbait rod in the future. My only complaint is their is no lube port like all my other Abu Garcia reels. I change all my stock bearing out to Boca Orange Seal ceramic bearings and I am sure this adds yards to all my cast!!! Abu Garcia for life!!!!!!!!!! ... show more

I've had this reel for 3 years now, and still wouldn't trade it for anything! I am an avid fisherman, and swear by this thing. Easy to maintain, great feedback, and very comfortable to use. I've got it on a 6.5' Fenwick rod and throw everything from 1/4 oz search-baits to 3/4 oz spinnerbaits with no problems. The magnetic brake control is perfect for beginners to learn to cast, and the adjustability is there for more experienced anglers. You truly get what you pay for with this reel. ... show more

When you buy an Abu Garcia you're buying a great product. That's a given. When I opened this baby up the packaging was smooth as silk. I loved the presentation in the box and the reel is so dang shiny!!! I love it!!! As far as actual fishing goes its the best reel I own. I use it regularly for all types of lures. I don't believe in a certain reel for a certain bait. A poor carpenter blames his tools. ;) The 9:1 ratio is super fast, but not too fast to use a rattle trap for instance. I have used a worm, buzzbait, crank bait, spinner, popper, and rattle trap on this, among other lures. It was improved my fishing life drastically. If you want all your fishing buddies to be jealous buy this baby, you cant beat the color either. ... show more
