  • Charming
Let me get to why only four out of five stars for this charming book right out of the starting gate. I'm seventy four and need glasses to read. At my age, all printed pages, from the news paper to the New Yorker, to this book (!) make me feel suspicious that font size has diminished has diminished in the last 10 years in order to get more words on the page! But i think that's simply paranoia. What I am alerting to future buyers is that the font size in this book is small. Shockingly small until your eyes get used to it. Frankly, it's surprising given the fact that the book is so beautifully designed. This book is also not a guide for out of the way bargain spots for travelers on a budget. There are no prices. Instead, it's a delightfully illustrated compilation of Paris' most beautiful, cherished and famous restaurants as well as some 'newer' establishments which have now become part of accepted fine dining with no financial constraints. I suggest that if you are in any way guided by a modest daily budget, you choose one of these glorious places as an event destination or a place to say goodbye to this beautiful city. All of them, as each person who writes about them suggests, has something that separates them, one from another; all of them sure to be memorable. While this is not a large book, it is in hardback for now and might be cumbersome to travel with. So again, I suggest either the kindle version to 'take with you', or decide which to visit before you are on your way. The book also offers some visiting suggestions besides the specific restaurants. Suggestions on the same block or the same neighborhood. It's on my travel bookshelf, forming part of my research for my next trip. ... show more

  • If you love Paris, you will love this book
A review of many of the top eateries in Paris, brought back many memories of trips taken. In a time of pandemic when we Americans are not allowed to travel to France, it's a great stimulation to begin planning for a trip when the ban is lifted. The illustrations are unique and enjoyable. I also like the fact that the commentaries are were written all by different people from all walks of like, who all have one thing in common.....the love of the city of light, and the food it has to offer. ... show more

  • Great Illustrations
This is a great book, especially for Paris foodies. The book lists the most well known restaurants in Paris by area and gives a little description or interesting note and has marvelous illustrations.

  • Could be better
I was disappointed that their seemed to be no organization to the book. It should organized by arrondissement. It would be a more enjoyable read.

  • Unless you're looking for a book of sketches, skip this volume.
I had an old book that listed excellent Paris bistros, but it was out of date and many of them had closed, so I found this online as a substitute. What a disappointment. The old book had actual menus with food and wine recommendations - a real find. This book has none of that. In fact, it is really just a list of restaurants with a sketch of each and no other information, literally a sentence about each place. No research, seemingly no effort at all, went into writing this book. I was looking for information, not artwork. ... show more

  • Too brief descriptions
In my opinion, the descriptions of the restaurants mentioned are often so brief and sketchy that it’s almost impossible to get a clear feeling for what to expect ( and I’ve dined in many that are mentioned).
