    • Prop is not OEM dimensions
Prop blades and hub were shorter than OEM specifications. This resulted in poor acceleration from the start, prop cavation, poor plane, and lower RPM. I tried everything possible to improve performance, like adjusting the engine trim (15 hp 4 stroke), weight distribution inside the boat (14' welded aluminum), and removing anything inside the boat that wasn't absolutely necessary or required, but nothing worked. Prop would "bite" at about half throttle, but would cavitate with anything more, resulting with maybe half plane needed to run at anything close to full speed or through shallow water. ... show more

    • It's pretty straight forward.
this is the correct replacement prop for a mercury 8hp, 2001. it's a little bit more diameter, and longer and more swooping blades than the one we had. but, we didn't see a huge increase in speed. 1, maybe 2 mph. the only possible downside is that there is too much surface area on the blades effecting it's ability to churn through the water to attain higher rpm. but, we may have it on a bigger boat than recommended. ... show more
