I have the spikes that go on my shoes and that worked for the wide-open area, but not for near the edge of sidewalks and garden beds. This worked perfectly! I was able to line it right up and press down like normal. It pulled right up with ease, and I was able to move right along. The spikes are made of metal. The held up a lot of turning and twisting while I figured out how this would hold up. The base plate that you step on is strong. The handle to hold on to wasn't the greatest to hold on to as it was really quiet low for me, but it did the job. I can't complain.

This aerator works smoothly. The nails can be pushed into the ground using a foot and then pulled out very easily. Doing a large area is tedious, but a small or medium lawn could be covered fairly quickly. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is that the nails have a small diameter and, at 2 inches, are not as long as I would like. Still this is a major improvement of my previous method of using a pitch fork. The device is easy to assemble in about 20 minutes, and the 3 foot long handle saves a lot of bending over during use. This has become a regular part of my lawn care, but with close to 1/4 acre of grass, it will take a while to cover everywhere.

This SILKPE 9 spike lawn aerator tool is solid. It is well built and very sturdy. I was able to put it together in no time. Using the aerator is so easy. I don't need to push the tool into the ground, I merely use gravity do its thing, making sure my feet aren't in the way. I did the small area of my lawn that needs some help to try it out, and it worked wonderfully. Unless you have a larger aerator machine, I highly recommend this for your lawn. I feel like it is a great value.

I'm happy with this aerator. Putting it together wasn't difficult, and its solid when using it in my yard. Goes into the solid ground quite easily and plenty of room for my foot to help push this in. Be aware that you may need to double-check the tightness of the spikes from time to time, as I had one come loose but didn't fall off.

It is more sturdy then I anticipated when I opened the box. I am an avid gardener so I have been using this in my garden beds to aerate and loosen the soil. Its not the intended use for this tool but it works ok at it. I like that it can help break up some of the chunky clumps. As far as the yard goes, this would take awhile to use it on a large area but its doable.

One of my biggest dislikes over shippable tools is sturdiness. You get a tool that's in mulitiple parts that slide together, and you end up with this limp-tubed tool that falls apart on you. I decided to risk this with this tool. Very pleasantly surprised. First, the tubes themselves are very rigid. Second, they join with both a pressure fit, two bolts and two brackets. When tightened, you get a nice solid tube that doesn't feel like it's going to bend on you at all. The spikes are a good width, so they are strong enough to easily pierce the soil. And all are replaceable if you do mess one up. It comes with several (low end) wrenches; while not fancy, they do work fine for assembly. So, if you don't have a lot of tools sitting around, don't worry, it comes with everything you need to assemble. Easy to use, easy to assemble, and nice and strong. Should last several seasons. I'm happy with this tool.

This aerator was simple enough to put together without much effort in about 5-10 minutes. It was very easy even without instructions. It's really sturdy, it's made well, and it does the job very well too! If you're doing a big yard, it's going to take a while, but if you had 2 with 2 people going at the same time, it wouldn't be too terrible. The spikes go into the ground pretty effortlessly, so I didn't really even need to use my feet, so it was light and sturdy enough that I could walk with it at my side and just pump it into the ground. Overall, great product!
