  • Good safety cabinet locks
I have a toddler that loves to get into everything! I have child safety locks on pretty much everything that can be opened or so I thought. My child found some more cabinets that he could open upstairs so I needed to get more safety cabinet locks. I went with these since they were very similar to ones that I already had. I have tried many different types and I like these the most. The ones with magnets are a pain to use since you need to have the magnet handy. The ones with hooks that go inside the cabinet are way too easy for a child to open. So these type that latch onto the outside of the cabinet seem to be the best in terms of convenience and ability to keep children out. Installation of the cabinet locks is easy. They have 3M tape to stick onto your cabinet and the tape seems to hold up very well. I will have to see if they leave any damage after peeling them off such as taking off any paint, but having to potentially do some minor touch ups afterwards is worth it for convenience and locking ability. The locks do a good job of locking in well with also being relatively easy for an adult to open. I'm able to open using one hand while my toddler has tried and tried to open it without any success. That is definitely a win. I have similar safety cabinet locks that snap into place to lock and the are loosened by gripping buttons on the side. However, those are much harder to open when I want them to than these locks which slide easily when grabbing the tab. Overall, I really recommend these child safety cabinet locks for their ease of use and ability to keep small kids from opening up cabinets or drawers. For a price of $5 for a pack of 8, I think the price is definitely fair as well. ... show more

  • Affordable Multi‑Purpose Safety Locks for Cabinets, Freezers, and Appliances
The price on these locks is very reasonable, and they work for a variety of situations beyond child‑proofing. In my household, we originally started using locks to keep our cats out of the cabinets after one managed to drag a box of brownie mix into the middle of the kitchen and chew it open. For that purpose, these don’t need to be complicated, since a cat can’t manipulate the release mechanism. I also use similar locks on my mom’s freezer. When it gets overloaded, the door has a tendency to swing open slightly, and the lock helps keep it closed so you have to be intentional about shutting it. We use them at work for the same reason—after a staff member accidentally left the refrigerator open and we lost product and the appliance itself due to a burned out motor, adding a lock became a simple way to prevent that from happening again. The adhesive style makes these easy to install without drilling, and they’re suitable for cabinets, drawers, and appliance doors. They’re straightforward to use and provide enough resistance to keep pets or an overloaded door from opening unintentionally. ... show more

  • A little clunky
I picked these up hoping to keep my curious cats out of the cabinets, and while they do the job for now, I have some reservations. The installation was simple enough since it’s just 3M adhesive, but that’s also a concern for future removal. I’m honestly worried that when it comes time to remove them, they’re going to take the paint or finish right off my cabinets. If you’re renting or have high-end cabinetry, you might want to test a small area first or look for a less aggressive mounting option. In terms of the design, these are definitely on the larger side. They feel pretty chunky and clunky once they’re on the doors, so they aren't exactly subtle. My other main issue is the "child-proof" aspect. They can allow a small opening where a child (or cat) can stick their arm in and pull something out. I think a determined toddler or an older child could figure them out pretty quickly. For my cats, it’s a sufficient deterrent, but for actual child-proofing, they might not be the most secure option on the market. They work okay for basic needs. ... show more

  • Bulky - but ultimately work in most scenarios
These are decent cabinet safety locks & would likely work for the strength & persistence of most toddlers. The price is great for the quantity, & they're overall easy to use. They are kind of big & unsightly compared to other designs out there, which is my number one criticism. I personally think I'll stick with styles that are less noticeable. ... show more

  • They work
These toddler-proof drawer latches are quick to install and easy to use. They are best for infrequently accessed drawers or cabinets since they are not really designed for long term functionality. But they do stick well (the adhesive pads are actually 3M brand, which is almost always top quality), and adjusting the length of the strap is easy. One end of the strap is the length adjuster, while the other end is the latch that opens and closes. In general you will adjust the strap length just once, prior to peeling off the adhesive and placing it. It's as easy as moving a slider. Opening the latch involves a little thumb slider and it pops open--you can move the strap out of the way and open the drawer or cabinet. It's not hard for an adult to do one handed. The end pieces of this cabinet lock are white while the strap is a sheer partly translucent plastic. This 8 pack is a great value for baby proofing your home. Baby proofing items are a fine gift for new parents--even though the problem isn't acute until the baby is crawling and then toddling, the gift of baby proofing gear helps new moms and dads think about how to get ready for the next stages. ... show more

  • Don’t work!
Unfortunately, these locks do not work well. I was so happy to receive these. Our toddler has been getting into things and we needed to lock off some doors. These locks look similar to the named brand but they are made with thinner plastic. They are easy to adhere to the door frame but when locked the door can completely open taking the other side of the lock with it. The plastic strip does not stay in place. I tried using multiple locks at different lengths. They all have this issue. I would not recommend getting these. Sorry. ... show more
