spring too tough for lighter gates.. mine are 12 ft steel tube and didnt budge spring :) so fairly level path of wheel travel is essential

Not for me. Theses are tough don't get me wrong. Tough for the wheel to spin that is. The ball bearings for the wheels are not the greatest. In defense of the bearings, I was on a dirt pad, perhaps a solid concrete or asphalt pad are better. I returned them and may use a heavier duty 8 inch wheel.
