Still breaking it in and may update later. Plenty of power for my 10 foot inflatable zodiac type boat. The issues are as follows. 1st, putting it into gear can cause the lever controlling the starter lock to come out, making it impossible to start without putting it back together. Not a good thought when you are riding 3 foot swells. Also, the fuel lines are held on either by zip ties or pure friction with the T joint made out of plastic. Thats a failure waiting to happen at the wrong time. Also, it needed a tune up to set the idle speed properly and make it run smoothly. Also, you will need a bucket to flush this since the standard adapters don't cover the intake port. Overall, it looks like it will do what I need it to, but will keep an eye on it. Update: 12/25: now, after a month in the shop, it won't go into reverse. Update: 12/27: ran ok 12/26 for more than an hour. Changed oil and lower end oil today. Lower end oil showed signs of water leakage. If you buy this motor, change this oil out as soon as you get it and before you take it on the water! Update: after taking it on the water in 12/29/2018 and 1/1/2019, I'm sorry to report the problems remain. It now spontaneously jumps out of gear when the power is increased. Still have to hold the gear lever down at low power to make sure it goes. Further it still will not idle properly nor consistently. I reached out to the seller 12/31. They said they would have the problem solved "tomorrow." Nothing doing since that deadline has passed. This motor I fear is a lemon. 9/2/2019. This motor is a total lemon. Aftet a day on the water, I came home to find my propeller had fallen off on the way home. It had snapped off at the threaded part of the prop shaft with only a few threads left. The motor had been stored indoors and religiously flushed after every trip. Am reaching out to the seller as this will effectively require a new lower unit. ... show more

    • Change or add to the lower oil as soon as you get the motor.
The motor started right out of the box but it wouldn't idle down all the way without dying. Run a little better today but it's spitting and sputtering unless at Full Throttle.

    • Very disappointed -wasted time and money.
Purchased this outboard along with a new go plus dingy (both imported) in January. Worked ok for about 5 minutes. Although both were purchased new, Hankai had stranded me (in salt water) several times. Dingy even worse- was deflated and basically in shreds and didn’t last 6 months. Waste of money. And even worse- wasted time trying to keep both going. Dingy is in a dumpster. I just gave away the outboard (troubles). Buyers beware. ... show more
