These were great quality and the pre-drilled holes made it much easier. There is the chance of cracking, the package suggested to spray lightly with water. I did that and put them in a ziploc bag, which helped prevent some cracking. The only problem with that is leaving them in the bag too long, a couple developed mildew spots. I eventually sealed them with a fed and wax, bee wax product. This also brought out the beauty of the wood grain. I will be buying more to do this next year. ... show more

I had to buy 2 packs of these since I ran out. The quality is good for wood burning but some did crack a little at the top but it wasn’t a huge issue. Also wear safety glasses bc the smoke will get in your eye. You don’t have to sand them down at all, it was ready to use. Overall really nice! I did stain some to preserve the wood. Great product! They are slices from a tree so they do vary in size a bit as the photo shows. I don't mind this, just sharing so no one is surprized. I do recommend sealing the edges before painting - we did start painting a few and found that the bark edges wanted to creep into the paint and also tend to flake off. The ones in the photo have been sealed with Mod Podge and are now ready to be painted. I love the thickness of these slices. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the drilled hole - I would prefer to drill the hole myself as then I could choose where I wanted to hole to be since they are natural and not perfectly round pieces. I also found that some of the holes were drilled lower than I would have liked them to be. I did quite a bit of searching and you really can not find a better quality wood slice at this price point. ... show more

These worked very well for my DIY Save the Date ornaments. Only 2 of the 30 wood slices ended up splitting at the top, but I can still use those for something else. Good size, mostly consistent, but I like that each slice is unique. For my project, I also used PET tape for the floral decal, a stencil cut with a Cricut and acetate, and gold leaf paint for a little shimmer, along with a few other paints and whatnot. We purchased these two and use for our classroom. The children painted them white and made them into snowman to give as a gift to their parents. We used a primer first, so that the white paint wouldn’t seep in since wood is porous. This worked well. They did crack slightly. This happened as the primer dried. But the snowman still came out very cute and made a very nice gift. They are thick enough that they look like good quality. They make for a very nice project. ... show more
