The one I chose has a pattern that teaches, such as numbers and colors, which is much better than plain or random patterns when being used as a play mat. It washes very well and we dry it on the lowest setting in the dryer. It is not cushioned at all, so you would need an area rug, carpet, or play at under. This works perfect for keeping the floor under my daughters eating table protected. It's just big enough and it will be super easy to wipe clean. I get it had to be folded to be shipped but now it has the lovely creases from being folded an extended period that I'm guessing will never go away without maybe heat somehow. I will go back and read the description to see if this can go in the washer and dryer and perhaps that will flatten it out. Besides looks the other issue with the creases is it sticks up just enough on the edge in spots my clumsy toddler keeps catching it with her foot and almost falling. At least it'll hopefully teach her to walk carefully around it and near her table that's on it. ... show more

I absolutely love this splat mat. Sometimes we play identifying the shapes, other times we count the dots along side the numbers to learn the value of each number. She goes through the alphabet using the animals for guidance (A-A-ANT, B-B-BEAR, C-C-CAT, and so on). I catch my kid playing often with this mat. She keeps creating new games during independent play (lately she's matching her plastic animals with the ones pictured on the mat). It's very easy to clean, I've washed and dried it several times and it holds up very well. It hasn't lost its waterproof quality throughout the washes (had a spill accident with a cup my daughter smuggled into the room during play). Warmer weather has moved us outside to play in parks, where this mat now joins us! I use it to keep my four month old clean and dry while my older kid plays. Again, soooooo easy to clean! I juts put it in the wash and dry, then back in the car for more park fun! This mat is really versatile! ... show more

I got this to keep the carpet clean from my 4 dogs. It looks like a rug. It can be washed or picked up to dump out extra dirt they bring in the house. Plus if you have a pet that is extra sloppy with water or food this is the perfect product for you. The only issue is it doesn't stay in a place that well. But I fixed that solution by adding Scotch brand velcro type product that keeps rugs in place. It doesn't hurt whatever product you have for flooring. Just follow the directions on the package. It basically does the same for rugs and flooring as the 3M products do for hanging things on the wall. It's not a perfect solution, but nothing other than getting rid of my 4 legged family members would be. ... show more
