The media could not be loaded. For something so expensive, I definitely expect it to be in perfect condition. The lid to this is not even and stays popped up on one side. Other than that, it was somewhat easy to assemble and set up. There are QR codes in the manual that you can scan to see how to set up the filter and whatnot. I got this for my 5 year olds birthday present. He just got his first fishies. He loves the tank and the lights. It’s very easy for him to change the colors to it as well. It’s great there’s an app for it too, you can Bluetooth it to the app (we downloaded it on android and iPhone but you can only use one device for it). One thing I’ve noticed is that the fish food gets sucked into the filter within seconds of putting it in which is pretty annoying. So I turn off the pump every time we feed them so we aren’t wasting food and so the fish can actually eat it.

This tank is not 5 gallons, it is a 4.5 gallon tank and with the added filter area it is even less room for a fish. This tank has an attractive look to it with the frameless design and frosted back glass. However, I see many flaws with it. When setting up the tank I realized that the provided foam that frameless tanks should sit on was too small. When I reached out to the seller, I was not provided with a solid answer on if this particular tank needed the foam. I was just told they didn't sell it and I needed to find another retailer to purchase the foam from. I did go to a craft store and bought craft foam and used two layers to pad the bottom of the tank. The next thing I noticed was how large the included decoration was. If I were to have placed it in the tank a third of the swimming area would have been taken up with the large "rock" formation. As for the filter area it is way too large for this small of a tank. It included 4 large carbon filters plus a bag of filter media cylinders for the beneficial bacteria to grow. I have since removed the carbon filters (because I don't believe they are necessary) and have replaced them with filter sponges. The discharge nozzle for the filter pump allows for air to be mixed in so you don't need an additional air stone. I have a betta in this tank so that was unnecessary for me. The flow of the pump was a little too strong for a betta so I also placed a modified filter sponge over the discharge nozzle to slow the water flow. The pump connects electronically to a cord in bedded in the lid which makes it difficult to set the lid aside to do a water change without disconnecting the pump. Also the lid only has 2 ports in the back to run additional equipment, like a heater. The light and pump can be run by using controls on the top of the tank (similar to an iPod wheel) or by downloading an app. I recommend using the app as there are many more options for controlling the lights and pump. The app allows a natural light selection or a precise color selection and brightness control. It also allows you to set a timer for the lights and the pump. It has a "Ray Tracing Mode" but tech support could not provide me with an answer as to what it did. A word of caution when using the app timer, if the tank loses power and your phone is not connected to tank when power is restored the lights will stay on. So if you are out of town your fish may be stressed from the light staying on. This tank is difficult to customize and is very expensive for the size. If you are new to fish keeping I would recommend a different all in one set up and research the nitrogen cycle. Not understanding the nitrogen cycle of a fish tank is what causes most new fish keepers to lose their fish.

This is a very nice tank. Comes with very quiet filter, bio material, carbon filters, large tank rock, and 7 green fake plants. All you need is fish and a gravel substrate. The LED light has multiple color choices and very good quality. This is a great 5 gallon tank for the cost.
