These lights are really bright and can be seen from a great long distance. The whistles I really didn't need, however, my wife has used them to train and call her puppy with them. They are very loud and since we live in the country the puppy and dogs can here them from a long distance. These are fine without tape with some light water spray but if you're getting these wet, definitely use the tape - they provide a roll of narrow, black electrical tape. After charging, make sure the little rubber stopper is firmly in place, jiggle it around a bit to make sure it's seated fully. Then add the tape over the charging port in particular. The micro-USB is lame but it's a smaller aperture/less water risk perhaps. The red light failed after getting soaked in some waves, green one was fine - probably didn't get the rubber stopper seated properly on the red one - it's dead. Batteries last at least an hour on full lights, easy to strap the lights on boat railings or kayak handles. These are the same as some of the bike lights sold under different brands. Tape + green light seems to be the only package difference. Good value overall, lets see how long they last. Would like better native water resistance to be sold specifically as lights for kayaks. ... show more

Product is very cheaply made. The on-off switch rubber button was sitting in the box by itself so I know they pop off on their own. Then one of the rubber covers for the charging port popped out when I opened the port to charge it. One of them won’t hold onto the charging wire so I keep having to fiddle with it.This item is not whatsoever waterproof given these entry points are so cheaply made. The item comes with a roll of electrical tape and instructions say to cover the charging port with tape to make this device waterproof. ... show more
