Description

40 Thingsis intended to provide parents with a concise and powerful resource to help educate and inform their children (kindergarten to young adult teens and even college age young adults) on a number of what I as a father consider to be the most important spiritual/biblical truths on a number of vital topics, (i.e., life, marriage, truth, the law, the purpose of government, and salvation.) 40 Thingsis primarily intended to combat/refute the predominant and most popular teachings and philosophies of secular humanism, post- modernism, moral relativism and universalism so pervasive today in our society (sadly even in many Christian circles) and to empower/encourage the next generation to think and act biblically. I am also hoping that the same parents who purchase the book for their kids will also purchase it for any unsaved, skeptical or backslidden family/friends to lead them to the truth of the Gospel. The book has already received rave reviews and endorsements from many Christian leaders and public figures such as Ray Comfort (who wrote the Foreword), R.C. Sproul Jr., Dr. Michael Milton, E. Ray Moore, Dr. Ted Baehr, Steve Deace, and J.C. Watts. Read more

  • Simply Exemplary. Add to your "must read" list.
Format: Paperback
Let me say this: as a voracious reader and a person interested in many topics, there are a seemingly infinite amount of books out there to read. One of the wisest people in history, King Solomon, recorded this sentiment in Ecclesiastes 12:12-14. Therefore, each of us ought to choose wisely which books are truly worth our TIME; our most precious gift. That said, make this short but meaningful read one of them. REASONS: 1. The author has distilled down and focused with razor sharp clarity some of the most important concepts and truths passed down from those who have come before us. Many of these ideas are currently under assault by those who would seek to redefine or believe they have a better way. 2. There is much divisiveness in the USA and greater world where narcissism seems off the charts and empathy is hitting rock bottom. Let this book sharpen your spirit in humility and compassion. See #18 on Forgiveness, and #32 on the Human Race. 3. Regardless where you stand to the left or right on the political spectrum, may this book inspire you to live with purpose and passion in considering your list of wisdom to pass on to your own children; whether you live another week or another 60 years. 4. If you happen to disagree with any of the content within, don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. I want to encourage you to prove out the reasoning behind your line of thinking and cross examine your beliefs. Be like a Berean in Acts 17:11, who studied things out and came to a logical conclusion. I for one would caution on #38, as we should walk humbly in this regard to Salvation. There are many passages in scripture that seem to indicate IF one decides to walk away from his/her faith in Jesus, then this does not apply. *see other lengthy discussions on this in other comments on this amazon review thread. After all, Jesus said: ““I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” In John 15:5. 5. According to recent surveys, only about 10% of professing Christians in the US actually have a biblical world view, along with approximately 1% of the younger generation. May this book inspire you in your walk of life. Every day is a gift, and who knows what tomorrow brings? May Jesus be your guide & example, your daily source of strength & wisdom, and your ultimate author of Truth. In the words of John the Baptist shortly before his own demise at the hands of the corrupt reigning royalty, “I must decrease, but he must increase”. May our own understanding be humbly reshaped in the Way of Jesus, the one and only King of Kings. “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend” – Proverbs 27:17 ... show more

Format: Paperback
This book is a true blessing from the Lord through the author.Been trying to get my children into reading the Word more, through encouragement as I hate with all my heart to be a religious zealot !!!(which I have done in the past which pushed them from His Truth,His unconditional love towards us) Bought this as a recommendation from an older, wise in the Lord brother of mine(grey beard ,mind you)and boy !!! All I can say is my precious 11 year old daughter started to read this to her lil brother before bed every night (without my pushing)and it has led her into wanting to Know Him more through HIS WORD ,this is a great supplement to THEE BOOK!!! She loves the book which is an easy read for all ages yet so filled with SUBSTANCE,TRUTH that sets you free,of God’s Truth !!! About YOUR identity,Your purpose,His love towards us and God’s total sovereignty!!!! My wife and I both love it too!!! Do yourselves a favor and pick it up for someone in your life that you feel needs encouragement, that doesn’t spend time in HIS LOVE LETTER TO US,and pray that this leads them to wanting to KNOW Him more in His Word as it truly has blessed my house, praise The Lord Jesus!!! ... show more

  • 40 things every adult should know!
Format: Paperback
This is a perfect book for teaching kids Gods biblical truth in small sized chunks. Each chapter is little more than a page but speaks volumes in its simplicity and depth. When the world our kids live In says do whatever feels good, make yourself happy this book says there is only one truth, Gods truth! I’ve had some great discussions with my kids at bedtime as I read this book. Topics include salvation can we lose it, where does our freedom come from, where did sin come from. Even as an adult I was greatly impressed with the simple biblical and conservative foundational truths presented that are being left behind for the “new” progressive ideas. Pick up a copy it is an easy read and one you can be happy to read with your kids. ... show more

  • Small book, very BIG ideas. Back to the basics, since our complicated world sucks.
Format: Paperback
This book is a smaller book than I expected. At first, I expected more details under most of the 40 things. There is the dreaded white space on some pages! But, when I s.l.o.w.e.d down, focused on what I was reading, thought about having these discussions at the dinner table with my 3 kids, was intrigued. As I progressed through the book, I started making additional notes to use when the topic captured a child's imagination. I can see using this as a launching pad to start with each point...each point has entire books written about it that we can send our kids to, but if they get "the main point" they will stay on track to live as honorable citizens, and as witnesses to an unsaved world deperate for holiness & righteousness in action. No where else have I seen these points all together. We are making this our evening table family discussion. It is profoundly simple. S.L.O.W...D.O.W.N and learn as a family. Thanks, Gregg Jackson, for a terrific book! ... show more

  • Every member of every Christian household should have a copy of this very special book!
Format: Paperback
This book is precious! Parents: First, save yourself an extra trip to Amazon... Buy a copy for yourself, your spouse, and each of your children. Then read this book...read it twice, then give it to your kids, or better yet, read it with them! The principles contradict and defy all media, movies, TV and public school curriculum, yet are 100% Biblical! Unfortunately, most churches will not discuss these truths! I only wish this book was around before my kids were old enough to debate each point! The great news is it has them thinking and questioning their false reality. This book offers hope for truth and understanding of God's principles for our children and their children. I'm so grateful to Gregg Jackson for serving the Lord and writing this special book! ~Jeannie Moore, Hear the Watchmen ... show more

  • Back to basics for Christians or people of any faith
Format: Paperback
This book is a great teaching tool for children and parents alike. It talks about the most important things in life based on the Bible and backed by scripture, as opposed to what the secular world would have you believe. Many people forget that America was founded on Christian values. This book gets us back to the to the principals that made this Nation great. Gregg breaks down each subject brilliantly and concisely in one or two pages. The book is a quick, easy read but the subjects are powerful and a can have a wonderful impact on someone's life. I highly recommend this book to anyone. ... show more

  • I read this book yesterday and loved it. It is an easy read
Format: Paperback
I read this book yesterday and loved it. It is an easy read, but has a lot of substance. I have grown children but am encouraged in my own life with this book. This book is a wonderful addition to a family bible study and would make a great baby shower gift. I encourage others who still have children at home or who are grandparents to buy this book and read it to your children/grandchildren. I also recommend this for anyone who may be witnessing to someone who doesn't have much knowledge of the Bible. This is just an all around terrific resource to add to your library of good materials to teach the next generations. ... show more
