  • Good item
It is well built and works as it should. I wish the assembly directions were better. I did not install a seal better the upper and lower box and have to take it back apart to install the seal

  • Solid Cabinet with One Issue
The media could not be loaded. Overall, the sheet metal fits together well, the unit is solid, and all necessary hardware is provided. I like the top loading, large size, and overall robustness of the unit. The two biggest issues are that the holes in the two piano hinges that connect the viewing lid with the cabinet do not line up and the gun does not draw media well. Update - I found that when I added about 100 pounds (45kg) or mason sand, the gun drew media well. Related to the hinges, I had to drill eight new holes closer to the edge of the viewing lid and use pop-rivets - as the rivet heads contact the 1/2” thick, lid-sealing foam strip. In terms of the gun, I thought I had solved the weak draw of media when I cleared a casting occlusion at the gun inlet for media. However, even then at 80psi+ and the braided vinyl hose placed directly into sifted Masons sand, the amount of sand coming out of the gun was on the weak side. Below is a list of other notes I made during assembly. 1. The kit comes with 1/8” and 1/2” thick foam. The 1/8” foam goes between the Plexiglass window and the metal lid. The 1/8” foam strip provided is spare material as the Plexiglass already has 1/8” foam applied. 2. The kit comes with spare disposable film sheets that are stuck to the bottom of the Plexiglass. This is done by removing the protective paper tape covering a strip of adhesive around the film perimeter. Note that the Plexiglass already has a film in place. This in combination with the 1/8” foam already in place, means the coated Plexiglass can be immediately screwed in place using the plastic retaining frame. 3. Even though some nuts have serrated contact faces, I would recommend using blue thread locker on all of the fasteners. 4. The 1/2” foam goes on the cabinet around the opening for the lid – seals the lid to the cabinet. Install the foam and then temporarily fit the lid in place. Position the two piano hinges and precisely mark the eight new holes you will need to drill into the lid – closer to the edges. Take your time, be precise, use a sharp punch to locate the hole centers before pre-drilling with a small bit. I used rivets because the heads have a low profile. Since they barely contact the foam, I still get a good seal. I suppose you could use the smallish 4M screws provided. 5. I used 7/16” washers under the screw heads that came in contact with the underlying frame that holds the grill/mesh floor inside. Without them, the screw heads seriously deform the underlying frame when tightening. 6. Use the tube of gray adhesive provided to seal the cabinet sides and small top with one another. The hopper below has thin foam pre-applied at the seams. Use additional gray adhesive to join the cabinet bottom with the top lip of the hopper. The hopper drops into the 4-legged stand and then the cabinet sits on top of the hopper. I would also recommend running a 1/4” bead of clear silicone (not provided) on top of the 4-legged stand prior to dropping in the hopper. There was an 1/8” gap between the two. I was concerned enough that I went back and squeezed in the silicone after-the-fact (very messy) to prevent the hopper from distorting when loaded so as to prevent breaking the seal between the hopper and the cabinet bottom. 7. The adapter for the compressed air hose that connects the threaded barbed end with a quick-connect nipple for you system was super loose. I put over 20 wraps of tape on the threads and they were still loose. The kit came with a metal and rubber washer to apparently go between the cabinet body and the inner portion of this connection but there was only enough thread length for the metal washer. ... show more

  • Hard to put together, but customer service good
Boy, is this a bear to put together! Bolts are phillips heads-hex head would have been far faster and easier. Instructions spotty at best. And once I did get it together, has leaks. Silicone is your friend here! But, I must say, their customer service is good. The cabinet light went out 2 weeks in-it is LED, and just up and quit-and I contacted them, and told them I went ahead and put a floodlight set up in it, seeing as I was in the middle of a project and couldn't wait forever for a bulb...told them how much I paid for the parts to do it, and they gave me that money back! Appreciate it greatly-figured I was out of luck. All in all, outside of the leaks, and the pain to put together, it works good, and I am using it quite a bit. ... show more

  • Decent Hardware - works well - could seal better
Size Name: 40 Gallon Red
The hardware was complete and the quality was pretty good. The steel panels are sturdy enough for a home DIY shop. I think this unit would get pretty beat up in an industrial environment. The window is plastic and not very thick and not very clear. Also, the window frame is a black plastic. Again for my DIY use, it should be ok, but I do wish the window was glass or at least thicker plastic mounted with rubber gaskets and a steel retainer. Assembly was not difficult - but put the hinge on the door first it will be easier that way. The bolts and nuts that hold the lid to the hinge do compress the rubber seal when the door is closed, so I am wondering how long it will be before I need to replace the seal and maybe use some pop-rivets to hold the hinge on that side. I liked the cord grip supplied for the light cable, it prevents blasting media getting into the switch box. I use my unit with a fine glass bead media and it does a good job. The unit is also big enough for most anything I will throw at it. I am not using a vacuum at this time. And the cabinet will require some effort to seal it up better. Perhaps some clear tape to seal up the seams. The air hose supplying the gun would not seal to the hose barbs becuase it isnt meant to seal to hose barbs, even when using hose clamps. That type of polyethylene hose is intended for instant tube fittings that seal on the outside diameter of the tubing. I replaced the tubing in mine with 1/4" rubber fuel line, so far no leaks and I like the way it works. ... show more
