It is my first time to write reviews, but I am so impressed with this shelf. 1) Ease of assembly - It took me about 10 minutes to assemble. No issues with pieces fitting together just right. 2) Durability - The metal frame is solid, the "wooden" shelves strong & sturdy. I can tell it can easily withstand loads of books if needed. You would expect such a strong piece of furniture to be heavy but it's surprisingly light! 3) Stylish, modern yet rustic look - Its sleek, minimal look fits perfectly with my decor, and the "wood", although fake, appears to be good quality. I have purchased quite a few bookshelves or shelving units in my life and this one has to be the best I’ve come across so far. The package came quickly, pieces were well-protected and marked for easy assembly. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Assembly was quick, my 14 year old was able to do most of the work. Only one small issue—the side rail pieces fit very snuggly and required we use a mallet to put them together, but I was happy to see how it all turned out. The shelves are sturdy and deeper than your average bookcase (most I’ve found are only 11 inches or so deep), making them perfect for my son to display his Lego collection. Also, the space between shelves allows for taller items to be displayed. The price was good enough I purchased two, and will absolutely buy again. Beautiful and solid, these are the perfect display shelves. I highly recommend them. ... show more

    • It suited my purposes to a tee.
I had purchased a multi-functional device that plays radio, CDs, LPs, and cassettes. But I placed it on a small bench which we used for the previous set and the problem I faced was to see the dials for the unit, I had to get down to the floor on my knees which was not working. I looked for a unit which was tall enough and narrow enough (to fit in a corner of the room) and honestly, I looked through everything and this was the very last thing I saw and it was inexpensive (though that was not a condition of purchase) and roughly the height and width and depth I needed so ordered it. Warning, it comes in a heavy box but that was the only minor problem I had. The assembly was simple though took some time and most important was the instructions. Simple, clear, and visually useful. I have had the worst experience with other instructions which were so poorly written with minimum information, it was impossible to assemble. This was not the case. Again, it is heavy but sturdy and deep enough for my needs - 17inches deep, and high enough between shelves to put records upright and narrow enough to fit in the corner. There is a cautionary wall mount designed to prevent tipping which I did not use, both because it required the shelves to be flush to the walls and also it is very sturdy. Though the shelves are made of particle boards, the laminate is a rough looking wood that is amazingly realistic. I love it. ... show more

I'm very pleased with the appearance and sturdiness of the media shelves. A small parts issue was resolved by the excellent customer service, received in 2 days, unheard of... Unfortunately not in need of any additional shelves/bookcases at this time or I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them. I just can't say enough positive. It has been a while since having such a pleasant experience. Follow the directions and they are not difficult to put together. There are many screws, but this is a very sturdy media bookcase. Looked a long time for black metal with wood. Most didn't accommodate the depth and width needed for turn table and receiver.. ... show more

You can't beat this for the price. I needed a bookcase with room for my printer...this was ideal. The pieces were carefully packed (all metal in plastic sleeves, all shelves protected and all bolts and screws were clearly marked and packaged). All you need is a screwdriver and the included allen wrenches and you can build this in around 30 minutes (no text instructions - just clear images). I really like the way the shelves are tightly secured to the frame -- not just floating as some units are. Each of the bolts and screws serves a specific purpose and as each are added the unit becomes stronger. If you like the picture here, you will like the finished product.     • Take a closer look
This piece of furniture looks good initially, but when you get a closer look it's made really cheaply. Target looks great compared to this. It serves its purpose however if it wasn't so difficult to send back I would send it back. It's basically laminated plywood. Don't get any water droplets on it, not even for a second or it will leave a mark. It was also difficult to put together due to the holes not lining up properly. I wouldn't recommend buying this piece. Go to Target you'll find better quality there. ... show more

    • Perfect for stereo equipment
This shelf is perfect for holding stereo equipment such as amplifiers and receivers. I didn't want to buy one of those ugly glass shelves that look like they're straight out of the 1980's to hold my vintage gear. The shelves on this go deeper than your typical 12" bookcase so your equipment won't be hanging off the edge. This shelf went together quickly and looks great. The veneer looks like real wood so no complaints there. I plan on bolting it to the wall to avoid tiping since I have heavier gear. This shelf really surprised me! It literally takes 15 minutes to assemble. The wooden shelves feel extremely strong. Im a pharmacy student and have tons of paper and textbooks. This thing can hold all my 400 pages textbooks with no problem. Personally, I left a printer on top and it doesn’t even wobble when I was printing.
