This lock boasts some heft. Weighing over 2.5 pounds, It's far more solid and durable than the one I used when I attended school on Chicago's South Side. The locking mechanism is non-standard, and the key measures almost an inch long (see photo). While I wouldn't expect that to deter a professional lockpick, it gives credible security to a car parked in a public place. It helps avoid your vehicle being perceived as low-hanging fruit, which is often the best security. The emergency hammer and seat belt cutter are not just add-ons; they are important safety tools that should be in every vehicle. The hammer, perfectly designed on the end of the heavy shaft, will easily break a window in an emergency. I'm less thrilled with the design of the seat belt cutter as it's located in the middle of the shaft and might be hard to use quickly. However, it proved its efficiency when I tested it, cutting through a cable like butter. These tools are not just accessories; they are a valuable safety net. The owner of a multimillion-dollar company died recently when her Tesla backed unexpectedly into a lake. This 20+ dollar item could have saved her life. The flashlight is relatively negligible. It's not much stronger than an iPhone flashlight but has a more focused beam. You'll have to point it at something so that someone can see your SOS and replace the batteries after a few hours of use. You can remove it from the shaft, but it's too light and small to offer much value. Overall, I find it outstanding, although now I have to find a place to store it where it's accessible in an emergency. It's currently miscategorized as a wheel lock; that's an entirely different product, but if you search "steering wheel lock" on Amazon, you can currently find this identical product for only $20.98.

This Steering Wheel lock is just the right size for my older Honda Accord. If it were any shorter it wouldn't be effective in locking the steering wheel. This one isn't as heavy duty as the original "Club" brand I had, but good enough. As my husband says, "In most cases, thieves are going to go for the easiest target so just having one of these on your car helps to work as a deterrent." The reason I ordered this particular steering lock is because of some of the features it has...First, it includes two keys and not one. It would be a bummer if you lost the only key to this device. The keys aren't your standard key. They are curved in a c-shape. I'm guessing this design makes it harder to pick the lock. The glass breaker was the second reason I chose this particular one. There are multiple emergency scenarios where a glass breaker would come in handy, and the seat belt cutter, provided you could get to it. Again, I think having it it the vehicle is better than not having it at all. The glass breaker on this is solid and would do the job if needed. There is a foam covering over the main part of the bar. I have noticed that the covering keeps it cooler to the touch when it's sitting in the sun. The light on the end arrived separate in the package and doesn't screw in all the way to the end of the bar. It isn't super bright, but would work in a pinch. The instructions state, "The maximum working time of emergency lighting LED lamp is about 4-5 hours." If needed you can "add two cr1632 spare button batteries." I couldn't figure out how to change them out. The light works for now so it isn't necessary.

This is so easy to use and store. It is very smooth. It is nice to have a light on it but I always carry flashlights in my car so this does not factor in my decision to buy it. As a flashlight it is not very good. The seat belt cutter and the glass breaker can come in handy in an accident but again, not factoring into buying it. The reason for buying it was to protect my car from being stolen. My car is well insured but the trouble of going through a claim and the wasted time and personal value content are important to me. Car thieves can see from the outside of the car that they have an extra obstacle to taking this car and hopefully go to an easier target.

I bought a steering wheel lock more than two decades ago, and I still have it somewhere in my house. Compared to it, this new lock is vastly better and more functional. It is easy to use. It locks the wheel to prevent theft; it can be used as a hammer to break glass windows; it can be used as a seat belt cutter; and it can be used as a flashlight. The latter can be removed from the lock. Pressing the button at the bottom once will generate the SOS flashing; press one more time to turn on the flashlight; press it again to turn the flashlight off. This lock can be stored under the passenger's seat. Do not store it under the driver's seat since it can slide out and block the gas and brake pedals. It can be used as a weapon to fight off an assailant in an emergency. Having this steering wheel lock as an extra level of protection provides me with peace of mind, especially when I travel with my family. The sight of a steering wheel lock alone can convince the criminal to find an easier target. I like this steering wheel lock a lot, and I would recommend it.

Looks like I've finally found a steering wheel lock that actually tightens down on my steering wheel. I've tried several others and can't get them tight, and they can be wiggled all over. This also seems nice and solid, so it would take a little longer for a thief to defeat it. The flashlight, window breaker, and seat belt cutter are all gimmicks. Can't imagine ever needing to use them.
