Ordered this to re-attach a cover/overlay on the trunk of one of my cars. This brand and type of tape has been my go-to when it comes to mounting badges, emblems, and adding support for some exterior parts (both OEM and aftermarket). My older car has an aftermarket rear decklid trim panel that needed to be re-applied after 15+ years. Because of the size and location of the part, it needs a thick strip of tape and a strong bond to hold it in place through the different seasons. Stripping and cleaning the old tape off of the part was a pain, but everything else was a breeze. I always clean and prep both surfaces with an alcohol and water solution. If there is some grime or wax, it is best to make sure that is stripped off, too. Then, I use an adhesive promoter on both to make sure there is a good, strong, and lasting bond. Also, because it is cold outside and I don't have an enclosed garage, I used a heat gun to maintain a warm (not baking) temperature on the surface for a little bit before and after application. If there is tension pulling the piece away from the surface, either from weight or from the shape, then I usually add either a clamp or some kind of tape to support it for 24 hours. In some situations, for some applications, using an RTV silicone is helpful. I know these aren't details that apply to everyone, but maybe they can help someone. Prep does make a huge difference and there is more info on the manufacturer's website for how to prep other specific surfaces. The tape applied and bonded to both the part and car really well. I have used this product for years and will continue using it. Great stuff.

This 3M tape is excellent quality and very strong two-sided tape. The tape is 1”×16.4ft in size and is black in color. Again, it’s a heavy-duty tape, and the adhesive is indeed strong. It’s 0.025 inch (0.6 mm) thick, and it’s made of a double-coated acrylic foam. This foam is very conformable, which means it provides good contact between surfaces, even if they’re slightly mismatched. The tape is easy to use and will provide a permanent bonding method that offers high strength and long-term durability. It also creates a permanent seal against water and moisture, which is a feature I’ve found to be very useful. I had to install a couple of thermo pane picture windows and used this tape instead of butyl tape or messy silicone caulking. The pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds on contact, providing immediate handling strength. After installing the windows they wouldn't budge. The tape can be used for a variety of purposes. It’s suitable for almost anything! Just peel the tape off and stick it to the surface of the object. I had no problem peeling it off. One thing to note is the cure time. After application, the bond strength increases as the adhesive flows onto the surface. They claim that at room temperature, about 50% of the ultimate bond strength is achieved after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and 100% after 72 hours. Overall, this tape is a versatile and highly reliable product. It’s strong, durable, and easy to use. Just have a little patience during the curing process. Rvhouse 3M VHB 5925 Double Sided Tape Heavy Duty Review I ordered this product to finish re-sealing my truck door moisture barrier after installing some new speakers in the door. I also wanted to use it to reattach the foam sound dampener that was falling down inside the doors. As others have stated here it can be VERY sticky to itself so care must be taken to not let that happen. I found it best to use it in smaller pieces rather than run the risk of a long piece getting tangled up on itself. You will frustrated trying to use this as an adhesive on very dusty or less than clean surfaces. I also had to keep my hands pretty clean or else handling the tape with dusty fingers reduced the “grabbiness” of the material to the point it would not adhere well. (I did attempt to clean the surface of the door where this material would attach which helped, but in some areas it was simply not clean enough to allow good adhesion.) I was working out in my unheated garage in winter, and while it was still around 50 degrees or so out there I wish I had the foresight to use a heat gun to warm up the surfaces a bit for better adhesion. BTW I used up the entire roll trying to match the old glue points on the moisture barrier and still could have used more. So if you are doing two doors that the barriers were removed from, figure you’ll need at least between 3 and 4 rolls.

I was introduced to this product several years ago when my brother was in the sign business. He was at a 3M seminar where it was being introduced. VHB stands for "Very High Bond" and that's a bit of an understatement. The tape itself is a bit soft... so it can be pressed which somehow makes it adhere better than if it was stiff or hard. Basically, if you will clean very well the two surfaces you need to stick and then apply the tape. Hold them together and let the adhesive sit and bond for a few hours... and that's not to say it doesn't adhere instantly... this is as close to a permanent install as your going to find. It can and will pull the paper off of sheetrock if you pull the item away from the wall. You can slide a piece of dental floss between the item and the sheetrock and it will more than likely separate the two pieces. I've used it for everything. You need a roll of this in your toolbox. It holds up to heat and cold well. I've been a regular user for probably five or six years and I always have a roll available. Five Stars!

What can I say, it's 3m double sided tape. Works good and sticks immediately. My only complaint is the side of the tape is pretty sticky, I'd be careful what you store the roll on as it will potentially stick and do damage to fragile paints / surfaces.
