Description

3M Construction Seaming Tape 8087CW is a cold weather sheathing tape designed to seal seams on housewrap and exterior sheathing materials. This tape features an aggressive pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive mounted on a biaxially oriented polypropylene film. It performs exceptionally well in cold temperature applications. 3M Construction Seaming Tape 8087CW is a versatile sheathing tape designed for seaming, splicing, sealing and repairing materials used for moisture barriers, both inside and out. This includes sheathing, weather resistant barriers and moisture barriers. Taping seams aids in reducing air infiltration, improves the effectiveness of insulation and reduces heating and cooling costs. This tape is formed from a rugged biaxially oriented polypropylene film backing which is coated with an aggressive industrial grade pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive. The backing is conformable to irregular surfaces and contours to help ensure a tight seal. It remains flexible when cold, can be applied from 10F/-23C to 185F/85C and has a service temperature range from -40F/-40C to 185F/85C. This tape features a low moisture vapor transmission rate and does not compromise the performance of vapor barriers. It unwinds easily by hand or with a 3M hand-held applicator.3M™ Construction Seaming Tape 8087CW features an aggressive pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive that performs well in cold temperatures. This adhesive adheres immediately on contact to a variety of materials such as housewrap, insulated sheathing, vapor barrier film and unfinished wood. It can be applied down to 10F/-23C and performs at temperatures as low as -40F/-40C. Once bonded, this tape provides good holding power for extended periods with good aging and UV resistance. It resists lifting and curling.

I got this Tamp after talking with 3m about what I could use on XPS pink foam in a RV insulation application. I needed something lovio see that could stick to multiple surfaces and handle extremely high temperatures and a bit of abuse They said that this should do it. I didn't notice any smell. It is extremely sticky and sticks very well to itself and most everything else and is very difficult to remove. The first thing I used it on was repairing a hole in a subwoofer in my truck. I ended up putting a bunch of pieces together to fix the hole in the subwoofer and cranked it up to 15 and it did not let a single breath of air out or even a pinhole. I have been blasting the subwoofer for a while now and it has not budged. It was a good width and length for the moisture barrier that I was sealing. It's a terrific product primarily on long seams that can be taped by rolling out the tape for many feet along the seam. I had problems, as with all tapes, cutting smaller strips and having the tape split or tear into sections that were uneven. Time consuming to get the tape back off the roll, and into a workable strip. It's more of a plastic tape than a heavy tape like duck tape. I liked the thinness of it. ... show more

i used this tape to seal a clear polly vapor barrier and then tape the edges to concrete walls. i also used it to tape dow board insulation and it worked nicely there as well. the only reason i did not give it 5 stars is i had one roll that i could not use because it would split and not roll out nicely. Tip: i used this tape in a Zip tape gun with a built in roller and it was perfect. ... show more

I bought this very specific tape for its very specific purpose - to seal the edges of rigid foam boards (Owen Corning Foamular). This is for a moisture/draft barrier in a basement room. The tape went on awesomely (that's a word), super-sticky, adhering smooth and flat. As with many home projects, I got busy with life halfway through and put it on pause. Months later, I can feel & see obvious bubbled up areas where the tape has ceased to stick to the foam. It hasn't outright failed as a draft seal, but it's close to failing as a moisture seal. If I'd stayed on schedule, I would've built a stud wall in front of it and been none the wiser, thinking I'd done a great job with a great product. Instead, I'm suspicious of it, and question how long before it fails. It's definitely better than most other tapes I could've tried, but I'm pre-disappointed in this product. ... show more

I'm using this to seam CertainTeed Membrain inside my heated detached garage. This tape sticks really well. It comes off the roll well though without fighting it. I did need to cut the tape with scissors as it doesn't tear well by hand, but that just means the tape is strong, which is what I want. I used a small pair of scissors that I could stick the end of the tape on so I wouldn't have to hunt down the end of the roll every time. ... show more
