Description

3M 1080 Series Gloss White Aluminum Vinyl is a dual cast film specifically designed for vehicle application to provide dimensional stability and durability without the need for an over laminate. The pressure-activated adhesive allows you to slide and reposition the film over the surface of the vehicle until you apply firm pressure. 3M 1080 is available in 60in (5 ft) widths making it possible to wrap virtually any section of a vehicle without seams. The non-visible air release channels assure a fast, easy and virtually bubble-free installation, when professionally installed. Saving valuable installation time.

Purchased this as a low cost alternative to repainting the faded paint on my Ford F150. It is almost a perfect match to the Light Silver on the truck. I’ve showed this to several friends and all thought it was painted. I did have a shop sand and install the wrap for the best result possible .

If you are looking for a metallic silver that has depth to it and a high gloss finish, this is the wrap to get. The trim on my 64 Bel Air spent 40 years of its life in Phoenix and sand over the years etched the aluminum trim. I opted to try wrap over actual paint to see if it was an option to go with for a different look and also to protect it from the car overall from weather while I complete bodywork in stages. This wrap is thick and doesn't highlight little pits like the blue in the background so it doesn't have to be completely perfect. One tip I do have is to pull the liner off a section at a time and heat it with the heat gun just enough to release the wrinkles so it is smooth and let it cool a couple of seconds before letting the tension go. This preps the wrap so it goes right over the part smooth. I recently started using another trick seen by a pro using a small spray bottle with soapy water. Spraying the top surface lets the squeegee glide over the surface smoothing it out. Once you get the hang of how this wrap works, it can wrap just about anything. The mailbox was given an update after the paint faded from being about 3 years old. Mostly scrap leftover wrap put to use. The silver was the cure for highlighting the numbers being difficult to see at night. 3M quality is worth a bit more when buying wrap. ... show more

False advertising. Picture shows a silver color and the description says white silver. It's white period. I'll use it somewhere but it sure would have been nice to know I was getting WHITE.

Great vinyl. It's easy to use and looks great. Nice and glossy, with just the right amount of metallic. It cuts great in a Silhouette Cameo vinyl cutter, using 3M knifeless finishing tape, or by hand with a fresh xacto blade. It's stretches just a little too easy compared to some of the other vinyl I was using, but you will get used to it quickly. The air channels/grooves on the adhesive side work well and you cannot see any texture on the finished side as a result. It conforms well without heat, but heat does help when working in stubborn tight areas. Be very careful with the heat, hardly any is needed. If you use too much you'll be balling it up and throwing it away. Keep in mind that I was using very small pieces compared to your typical auto install. I used this on my newest RC turbine jet. I got this vinyl because I was messing around with my Ford Focus which is Ingot silver! Perfect In case want to put stickers on the body color but don’t want to deal with old adhesive when you decide to remove the sticker! [sticker on top of vinyl and you can’t even notice] :)

I ordered a 5ftx6ft piece, the piece that was sent was only 5ftx5ft. Luckily I ordered the 6ft in case we had a mess up and had extra vinyl on hand. Thankfully we were able to get the job done on the first try. Still though, I had paid for a full 6ft piece and find it pretty ridiculous that it was a foot short, because for some that extra foot is the difference between a job well done or a mad customer. We are a full service vinyl shop btw, the only reason we didn't order this from our distributor is because the color was discontinued and this was the only place we could find it. ... show more

I wrapped an Acura TSX fender with this and sold the car without the buyer asking any questions. You can sorta tell the color is off, but it isn't that bad. It looks better on the mirror than the fender. For anyone looking to wrap rather than paint to match their body, this wrap is a great idea. At the very least, buy a sample to compare.
