  • Solid quality and feature rich. Recommended for younger kids and siblings.
Color: Black
At the time of review, this keyboard was priced around $30. That's a solid price for what you're getting. I tried out all of the features on this to get a full understanding of it and there's a healthy amount of options that were built into this. There's buttons for changing the sound of the keys to an organ, string, guitar, flute, music box, piano, violin, and xylophone. Initially I wanted to say that the violin and guitar sounds didn't sound like the actual instrument. But they do if you hold them down for a sec. That music box 'tink' sound brings back memories. It really does sound like a music box and it's pretty neat. They're also four animal sounds which are a dog, frog, duck, and bird. As a semi-professional musician I wouldn't use them but I bet a lot of kids would get a kick out of that. The record and play feature works pretty well. I hit about 30 notes in succession and it recorded them all as clearly as they were played. I'm not sure exactly how long the recording will go. But that's a useful feature if you want to record something and play it for your parents, etc. There's also eight rhythm buttons that play a backing track that you can add your own sounds to. They are called blue, ballad, march, euro, fusion, polka, disco, and tango. They sound fairly close to music you would hear in those genres. There's also drum, kick drum, symbol, and snare buttons. All of the buttons I just mentioned play one sound. But there is a demo a, demo b, and demo c button that have multiple sounds to them. You just have to press them more than once to get to the next sound. It took me a little tinkering to figure that out. I like the width of the keys. For kid's fingers these are about perfect sized. The speakers are surprisingly pretty decent. You can sort of tell by turning them all the way up and hitting a few keys. But It sounds even louder when using the mic at full volume. You do have to have your mouth right up to the mic but that's no different than using any other mic. They're all designed that way so it doesn't pick up background noise. Another reviewer here said the mic doesn't hold in place on the back of the keyboard. I don't doubt that's their experience with the keyboard they got but my mic fits snugly in place. I took a pic of my keyboard up in the air to show how snug it is. So it may work for some people and not for others. I got this for a 10 yr old boy. He's been wanting a replacement keyboard since his last one broke. I'm sure he'll be happy with this one since he likes creating music. But generally, I would recommend this for ages slightly under 10. Both the mic and keyboard sound good and I think younger siblings would probably have a lot of fun with both. ... show more

  • Toy Piano with Decent Sounds, Rhythms, and Songs, No Way to Secure Microphone
Color: Black
When I was a kid I had a little Casio keyboard that was about this size, but could not play chords. This 37 key piano can play chords (at least five notes at a time), and has a lot better selection of sounds and rhythms. I was impressed with the range of songs that came pre-programmed into the keyboard for $20. There were everything from classical pieces to soft rock. Some of the songs were familiar, others were not. The keyboard comes with a USB cord, but it is for power, not playing. It requires three AA batteries in order to actually play, which is not much of a burden. If giving to a three year old, I could see leaving the AA batteries out and just using the USB cable attached to a battery pack or plugged into the car charger. While there are obvious improvements that could be made, such as a better microphone or even a way to store the microphone in the bottom of the keyboard (there is a place but no way to secure), I think that this is a really nice Christmas gift for a budding musician, and a great introduction to a piano without having to break the bank if it ends up on the pile that sees less use than desired. ... show more

  • Not really "rechargeable"
Color: Black
Cute little plastic piano for toddlers. It's not going to be super durable like a nice name brand toy, but our 2.5 year old grandbaby loves playing with it. Ours needs batteries and doesn't seem to be rechargeable like advertised. The microphone is a fun little extra and he loves making noises in it! The size is smaller than it looks in the pictures, but it's good for toddler sized hands. We put it away when he's done playing on it because it'll probably break easily due to the plastic construction. ... show more

  • Great Starter Keyboard to Spark Musical Curiosity
Color: Black
I got this for my godson, and he absolutely loves it. Even if it’s just to spark interest in instruments, it’s doing its job perfectly. The included microphone instantly grabbed his attention, and he’s been experimenting and making noise with a big smile on his face ever since. One thing I really like is that there are no batteries to worry about — it runs off the included USB cable, which keeps things simple. I had a great time showing him how the keyboard works. It basically came down to pressing buttons and watching his brain light up as he realized each one does something different. It’s amazing how quickly kids pick things up. The build quality isn’t top-tier — it feels a bit cheap — but that’s totally fine considering it’s for a young child. The risk of damage from rough handling is part of the game, and I’m okay with that. If it lasts a while and gets him interested in music, then it’s already worth it. For now, he’s having a blast making his own version of music — and that’s what matters. TL;DR: Fun, simple little keyboard perfect for young kids. USB-powered, no batteries, and a great way to introduce music. Build quality is basic, but the joy and curiosity it sparks make it a great value. ... show more

  • Great Keyboard for the Size
Color: Black
This is the perfect sized keyboard for kids ages 3-5 as it’s not too big that they are able to carry it around and not too small that they’ll ignore it. The sound quality is nice for the price and size. The battery life is actually better than I expected and my little has so much fun coming up with his own music on it. He also likes that it comes with a little microphone so he can fully perform all his songs that he created for us in the living room. This is a great gift idea for the approaching holidays for all littles. ... show more

  • Fun starter piano
Color: Black
This little keyboard is a hit for kids and great for learning rhythm and basic notes. Would have actually preferred less sounds and effects, but that's just me. Just a heads-up if you plan to use keyboard stickers (bought separately): the keys aren’t perfectly spaced like a standard keyboard, so you may need to adjust accordingly. Still a fun and sturdy toy that encourages music play. ... show more
