Mine was silver (galvanized). No complaints as it is not in a visible location. The horizontal ears are a little larger than they appear to be in the photo, I.e. right side is correct in the photo, the left should match, but has been cropped. For mounting in concrete or brick, it would be easy to cut a slot to fit. The door is a little lighter weight than I was hoping, but is certainly serviceable. Twisted warped piece of junk. Quality is so poor I would bet $100 this is made in the USA. Had similar experience working in an auto repair shop they would insist using a certain brand of struts because it was one of the last made in USA auto parts but half the time the top plate was misaligned you’d have to take a round file to holes in either the car or the strut to make them fit. The latch is so bent the door hardly closes when it does there is one inch gap on one side tight on the other. I’d be embarrassed to sell this product ... show more

The product came slightly damaged but I just bent it back and hammered it flat, install went well, and door works very well.

    • It doesn't come painted black
It's galvanized steel in the white (which isn't a problem, other reviewers noted this as well so I knew about it when I ordered it). I bought this to replace the old one covering my crawlspace entrance. I little metal working was required to get to fit into the opening I had, it was a tight fit (good!) and functions as expected. Overall, I'd recommend it. Just take note of the actual size of the frame itself as others have noted in the reviews. Measure twice, cut once. ... show more

Did not want to remove bricks to install new door frame and so cut off angled edge on the sides and was able to pound it into place afterwards. Added 1" foam weatherseal strips all around doubling up on the bottom. NICE!

I'd like if it was a little easier to operate, but it's fine. You don't usually need under the house much, but this is a fixer-upper and so we're in and out quite a bit now. Not a problem to set it. Going to put a foam board on the back shortly, that bare metal will still let our pipes freeze too easily--but it's far better than the gaping hole in the foundation wall left by the previous owners. When we get the other work done, we'll paint the foundation wall and this door and it will look fine. ... show more

    • Poor packaging and inspection process leads to damage and mediocre purchasing experience.
Quick shipping. Right size. Poor packaging. 2nd time ordering an access door from this company. Poor packaging first time also but first item not damaged. 2nd door dented and scratched and frame bent but usable. It looks as if it had been returned by someone else then resent to us without company inspecting it or repackaging it securely, based on tape on box exterior and also tape, stains, dirt and scratches and dents on door and frame. Cleaned door. Goo gone to remove tape so it can be painted. No help for dents. I think the product is a good product, but lack of attention in shipping(or inspection of returns) leads to damage. ... show more
