This is a complete kit suitable for a wide range of applications beyond alcohol distillation such as in making homemade essential oils, purifying water, and more. I'm personally using it for making distilled water and herbal extracts/tonics so I couldn't comment on its performance on alcohol distillation. Again, it's a complete kit allowing those with knowledge to get started practically out of the box. Assembly is of course, required as alluded in product pics uploaded on the listing. I'd recommend beginners to watch related YouTube to go over each components and their functions, then onto videos for installation and usage instructions. The included set of instructions is lacking and can be described as vague at best so I'd actually recommend that they look online for additional guidance. There's a lot to cover so I won't bore the reader with every minute nuances and details in using this device. That said, my one tip would be to load the condenser with a mound of ice instead of just with cool water as instructed. This saves the constant need to swap out water that's become too warm for the condenser AND provides both the rapid and consistent cooling, leading to higher quality results without needing to break as much sweat. It is a rather large tank which may exceed most home use applications. Larger tanks correspondingly have larger requirements, such as a heat source for an instance. A small kitchen stove won't likely bring a full tank under a reasonable amount of time so my one additional two cents would be to make sure that this is the product for your needs. It's a solid product overall, earning a perfect 5 star rating from me. And as with all things dealing with high pressure & heat, always be on guard and monitor pressure levels to maintain safety at all times!

I am a complete newbie to essential oil making - or the various other uses this particular set might be used for - so this is going to be the initial review, which I know isn't very helpful. However, there *will* be a follow up review, so stay tuned, and if you are a complete newbie too at least you'll have a good idea what to expect. What to expect is a series of three sturdy pots: one really big, two of them smaller, and a set of directions on how to hook up the tubes between them. Follow the steps carefully and it's easy to do. My husband had it together quite quickly, and it seems to seal tightly and well. We tested the included thermometer against our outdoor temperature and they seemed to be in harmony with each other. I know enough about baking to know that when the time comes I should probably go ahead and do an ice water test on the thermometer, but it seems to be working properly. All the pieces were there and installed as they are supposed to. There are also some basic directions describing the distilling process, but while the directions are technically complete, they're really written for someone who knows what they're already doing. For example; they didn't describe what a thumper is for very well. I only know now because I looked it up. So if you are a newbie like me, plan on doing some serious research, preferably from several different sources. Once you have done so you will be able to go back to these directions and they will make more sense. Other than that, again, the pots are solid and the seals tight. It is nonferrous metal, so you won't be using induction. Plan accordingly. One last note: the Still Pot (the big one) is 16 inches plus a little in diameter. This is the part that's going to have to be heated, so know that you're going to have to have a heat source that can accommodate a 16 inch round pot *and* be reasonably carefully controlled. You need the temperature to stay in about the 173° range. You are also going to have to have a supply of fresh running water, either by using a bucket and a pump or by connecting it to a sink. So keep those two things in mind. I am excited to get started! As long as no strangers come up ol' Rocky Top, we should be good. Stay tuned...

I'm totally new to distilling, but I have been brewing beer for decades, so I know many of the basics. This kit seems identical to many other kits under different brand names, so it is probably some generic import kit that brands just slap their names on. Nonetheless, it seems like a really high quality entry-level kit with most everything you need to get started. Some other things you will probably need... heat source such as a propane burner, triple scale hydrometer to measure the mash, proof and tralle hydrometer to measure your alcohol, cold water bucket, cheesecloth, long stirring spoon, white vinegar for a cleaning run, your initial grains/fruits/sugar/yeast/etc., and some bottles to store your shine. The instructions are decent for explaining setup, but are garbage for actually making moonshine. There is a warning about following the included recipes to prevent methane, but then zero recipes are included. The actual instructions for making moonshine is less than a page and don't really go into detail. But no fear, there are tons of resources on the internet with great information. So, the lack of instructions and recipes are not that big of a deal. I'll report back after making my first batch. There are loads of videos online using basically this exact kit (under different brand names) and they all seem to have good luck with it.
