  • Attractive, stylish A/C Fence with built in planter box
Size: 2 Planter
I was planning to DIY a fence to hide and muffle sound from our outdoor A/C unit and then I found this! Perfect solution! Fairly easy to assemble, sturdy, and made from long lasting cedar wood. Everything came neatly and securely packaged. Instructions are clear and straight forward, plus there is an online video you can access from a QR code. Relatively easy to assembly. It took me about 1 hour. I'd recommend having handy: -A small rubber mallet or block of 2x4 for tapping tight fitting parts together -A power screw driver or drill - with adjustable torque -Proper size Phillips bit -A 3/32" drill bit - for drilling pilot holes where needed A sanding block, or sheet of medium grade sandpaper Some suggestions for assembly: -Read the instructions completely, watch the video before starting. -Pay attention to the orientation of parts, especially the bottom rails. -Adjust your drill/driver to the MINIMUM torque needed to drive the screws completely. Cedar is a soft wood, and too much power will drive a screw too deeply. -Despite what the instructions say, cross boards #4 did NOT have pilot holes pre-drilled. Use a 3/32" bit to do this. -Also, while Cedar is soft, it is also fairly knotty. And the knots are VERY hard. I had a few rails with knots right on the end, where a screw needed to be driven. Again, the 3/32" drill bit comes in handy here to drill a pilot hole. -Finally, and maybe most important tip! Getting all the cross slats into their respective slots can be a real challenge. Here's what I did: - - Assemble one corner post to the bottom panel. - - Screw the #4 slats into position as in the instructions. - - Lay the panel flat on the floor. - - Screw the bottom of the opposite corner post to the bottom panel, ONLY UNTIL THE SCREW STARTS TO HOLD. This holds it loosely in place, but also allows it to swing outward slightly while you insert the rest of the slats. - - Starting with the bottom slats, insert 1 at a time, first fully into the fully secured corner post, then slightly into the loose corner post. - - Proceed until all slats are in place. - - Screw the top slat into place, then the middle. - - Finish screwing the bottom of the post to the base panel. I hope you find this helpful! Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Hides away your AC compressor with a nice look
Size: X-Large
Loved that they used real wood for this product. You can smell it as soon as you open the package. The wood slats are slightly thinner than a normal fence wood slats, but still very durable. Installation instructions are very clear and easy to understand. Was able to set it up in less than 30 mins. One tip when staking it to the ground... Have a level handy so that you can ensure your fence is straight and level all around. The fence fit perfectly around my AC unit and hides it away pretty nicely. One thing I wish that they did with this fence was to have something like a quick release for removing the fence panels from the posts, so that if you ever need to service your AC unit, you don't have to remove the entire fence and the posts and then reinstall them back by hammering them down and leveling them again. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice to have that feature. A tip that you can do to make the removal easier is to not pound the stakes all the way down. That way, removal is easy and less destructive when you have to service your unit. ... show more

  • This is a very convenient kit for the avid gardener!
Size: 2 Planter
The planter came fairly quickly and was somehow able to fit in a single box about 4 feet long. For what it is, it's a fairly small box but it is heavy! Make sure you have some help in lifting it. I believe it was around 30 lbs according to the label from the shipping company. Since the pieces were all fairly similar, it was easy to lay out and organize before building. Everything needed was included and instructions were easy to follow. If you've had experience with building furniture, this would be a breeze. I do suggest you build it near where you plan to put it. In other words, don't build it inside your house as it may be a pain to maneuver it outside of the house. The wood used in the item is fairly plain in the sense that it isn't the highest quality of wood material. But it is adequate for the purpose and the price you pay. In my opinion, you can build something similar with higher quality wood, but you give up the convenience and time. This kit has everything ready cut and assembled, perfect for those who don't mind the trade off. In reality, a planter box sits outside and will eventually get weathered any ways. The material used here is good enough for that purpose. Some things I did notice when assembling it: 1) Don't try to hammer the stakes into the ground with anything but a rubber mallet. It's very easy to chip and crack the wood if you hit it with something hard. 2) Try to go slow with screwing things together. If you try to use a power tool with too much torque, you can split the wood quite easily. Nothing a bit of wood glue can't fix but save yourself the trouble. 3) Plan to build it outside next to where you want to install it. This way you don't have to move something so big and cumbersome. 4) The wood grain is a fairly light shade so you should factor this into your decor. I have existing wood structures already that were stained a darker shade. This lighter shade does not match or fit. I plan to repaint it with some darker wood stain some day. 5) If you find yourself needing to adjust the size, height, or take out the AC screen completely, it's not hard to do. I actually didn't need the AC screen so I plan to just keep it and use it as a trellis. 6) I would line the bottom of the planter box with some type of tarp material to avoid the wood from rotting down the line. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. You can spend an entire day buying the lumber, taking it home and cutting it into the correct dimensions, and then building it. Or you can just buy a kit like this and save yourself the time. Time is money after all! ... show more
