These are very nicely made pieces of plumbing equipment. They have a couple features(that I'm not sure are unique to this set) that at first seam mundane then prove very useful. First, is how they attach to the unit. It's a union fitting where you first attach an adapter to the inlet/outlet of the heater, then when you've got the rest of your plumbing lined up, you join the union fitting at the top of the valves to the tank. If this feature did not exist, you'd have to spend another $20 on unions to plumb it correctly. Second, is the fact that the service side of the valves are separately gated. On some cheaper models, turning the service handles(the yellow ones) would close the inlet/outlet and open the service ports. Well, that works well enough, but what if I want to fill a bucket with hot water right from the heater, or connect a hose to the cold water inlet? With these valves it's easy. When the valves are in their normal "on" position, you can simply use them like a hot/cold water hose bib. Quality wise they seem great. Though a bit pricey at $75, you get what you pay for and I'm really happy I didn't cheap out and plumb my new heater without them. ***My Rating Definitions*** 5 Stars: Works exactly as advertised, fit/finish are what you'd expect when purchasing this type of product AND it is a good value 4 Stars: Works exactly as advertised, fit/finish are what you'd expect when purchasing this type of product, might have a minor flaw 3 Stars: Generally works but I'd change a few things 2 Stars: Barely works but can be made useful if you try 1 Star: Useless, does not perform it's intended function whatsoever and is generally a waste of money ... show more

Best investment you can make. Took a little bit of modification in my application but is pretty much a plug and play system for a standard Cold Water Heater...don't know why they call it a Hot water heater? Isn't it heating Cold water to make Hot water? Why do you Park on your Driveway and Drive on a Parkway? Anyway back to the subject matter...I was able to install and clean out over 5 years of build up in my Titan heater, the water that came out, the before and after was amazing. I tested the temp of the water before cleaning; 108F. After cleaning the temp of the water is now 120F. So yeah, this thing is making the heat go up and the electric bill down. If you have the Tank type heater, make sure to clean out the mineral build up at the bottom of the tank, you will be surprised at how much junk/sediment is laying at the bottom of your tank. You can do this by turning off the power to the unit, drain the tank connecting a garden hose using the spigot valve on the lower portion of the tank. After most of the water has drained out take off the access panel of the lower heating element, then take the heating element out and reach in with a shop vac, Wet/Dry type of course. Hopefully you have thought of buying/ordering before hand (because you read this informative review) the replacement element so that you can replace it either before or after flushing the system...up to you. There are a lot of opinions out there as what to use to flush the system with...Vinegar, Lime-A-Way or Citric acid. Depending on your water hardness and the area you live in, results may vary. After a couple of attempts you will find what works the best. BTW, always read the directions of dilution of the solution. Make sure you use your safety protection...eyes and hands and possibly a respirator as fumes can accumulate in a closed in area such as a garage or closet, also keep plenty of rags or towels close by for spills. Use proper ventilation by opening any doors or windows and use fans if necessary. Be safe Boys and Girls!! ... show more

    • High Quality and Durable - May need pink water resistant thread
I used this set for a tankless hot water heater, and it worked very very well! It's very heavy duty, has a blow off valve, and separate cleaning valves. The shut offs do require a bit of pressure, but I can confirm they work well. The O-Rings are not leak proof! You will want to use a water resistant thread, which was not recommended/required for everything I read about copper fittings, but I needed pink thread all the same. Beyond that, if you are not a plumber or have a similar skillset, use a plumber wrench to install these valves. It will help to keep the soft copper from being marred. All of that leads to to this point - these are high quality, they are worth the price, and I'm very satisfied with their performance. ... show more

    • Excellent for tankless water heaters.
We've had our tankless hot water heater for 4 years and after poor performance we found out we had not descaled it, ever. When it was installed the plumber failed to mention how to maintain it and did not leave a single instruction booklet behind. We contacted the manufacturer and they sent us instructions for descaling. We became confused when we could not seem to find the clean out valves. Turns out none were ever installed. We had to dismantle all the plumbing to the unit. It was a nightmare but we did not have the valves to put in at that time. As soon as I could I ordered these. The valves arrived packaged neatly. There were clear instructions on the installation and we actually did it ourselves with little plumbing experience. The valves work perfectly. I am so happy that I can clean out the heater with just a twist of knobs. Everyone who has a tankless heater needs these. ... show more

    • Same store quality and brand but better price
I installed my tankless water heater a year ago without installing this kit due to how expensive it was at the local Lowe's and Home Depot. I figured I could wait a year and purchase it at the time my first maintenance service to my water heater was needed. I am happy I looked here before going back to one of the two local stores. I found it here much cheaper. They are the same brand and quality. I installed and performed the maintenance on my water heater. The only thing I would like to mention is that I found a large brass shaving in one of the service ports as I was checking the valves before installation. I don't know if this would of caused any damage to my system at the time of service but I am glad I checked them first before installing. ... show more
