My mother is really good at using the pottery wheel to turn out bowls and pitchers so I surprised with this for an early Mother’s Day. She was delighted. It is so easy to use and easy to clean too. It compares well to the ones she used st the ceramics class in junior college and is sturdy. It even comes with the tools needed so all you need tog eat is the clay.

BUY THIS!! I was hesitant at first because there weren’t too many reviews but this is such a good deal especially for the money. It’s a beginners wheel but perfect for at home and you can move it outside on a nice day!

The wheel underneath the metal cover spins uneven and is bent. Plate doesnt spin flat.

The media could not be loaded. I spent years in my teens and into my 20's taking pottery classes and for years I've wanted to get back into it, but the challenge has always been the need to have access to a potter's wheel. For all those years it felt out of reach, because the majority of potter's wheels can cost anywhere from $500 to upwards of $1,500, which always felt like too much of an extravagance to justify buying for my personal use at home. Then by random chance I happened to come across this potter's wheel on Amazon, for a fraction of the price at just over $200. I was a bit wary with wondering what kind of quality it might be at such a low price point, but I decided to take a chance and order it, and I'm happy I did because I'm extremely impressed at how high quality the construction and design of this unit is. It's a professional grade potter's wheel, but not at professional grade prices. From the get-go, the construction itself is wildly impressive - clearly made with a high grade steel with solid welds. There's also no worries whatsoever about it falling apart or not being stable enough to handle the speed of cranking up the wheel and really manhandling the clay for a successful session of creating pottery. The unit weighs about 30 pounds and has rubber feet on the pegs with solid grips, for further stability in the comfort and assurance that even when it's on its highest setting - with the motor rotating away at 320 rotations per minute - it's not going to wobble, fall, or tip over, whatsoever. Speaking of power and speed, this unit is 350 watts, which is incredibly powerful and perfect for being able to shape and mold clay on the wheel. Add to that the ability to easily increase or decrease the speed, toggling on the side panel between the hand controls and foot controls (by way of the foot pedal). There's also the ability to easily alternate the direction of clockwise and counterclockwise rotation of the wheel itself. I also appreciate features such as the removable basin, which snaps together securely in two pieces and just as easily comes apart for cleaning. (because let's face it, while pottery is fun, it's messy! There's a lot of clean up, but with a removable basin it makes the clean up process that much easier.) Additionally, it's a nice safety feature to see that the power cord has a leakage protective device to ensure against any electrical surges or accidents. All in all, this is a really satisfying purchase that meets all the marks for a solid, professional grade potter's wheel at a fraction of the price.
