I have bought this item three times, and used at least the first two packages to make custom cables. I really like them, I do wish the shell was just a little bigger-wider to fit a larger rubberized rca cable I was modifying. I had to reduce the bulk in my media center, and I did. The shell is well made, as is the rca connector. They use a set screw for the positive, and I used solder to tin my wires first, then solder the ground to the connector. While it comes with a clear plastic cover to act as a shield, I used a liquid tape product to prevent any shorting of the connections. I had one bad one out of three packages. Those are good odds. The ground was the issue in the bad one. ( Old term): I rang out each cable during and after assembly, and they work great. Some advice: if you are fitting the shell over thick wire, consider a dab of wire pull gel in the small opening. I started using that by the second package, and things went much faster and easier. The one I used evaporates so there isn't any real residue. I bought three packages over a few weeks. I would buy them again. ... show more

This item pack will definitely keep your project looking balanced and uniformed. They work very well especially for those that want everything to look the same and don't want to guess how long of wires you want or need. With these you will be able to cut the exact amount of wire to make your project really stand out. But I will warn you take your time and make sure you have good continuity with the finish wires I had to redo some of mine. Not the connectors' fault.
